Trying out this hero and wondering if I'm playing him correctly.

Watched this genuinely expecting much much worse. It just mostly looks like you're very new to FPS games and that's fine, it'll take a long while to catch up. A couple things that I think could be easy wins though

1 - your aim looks very very jittery a lot of the time, to the point that I think there is probably some hardware problem - maybe your mouse sensor has dust in it, or you're using a really bad or unclean mousepad, or windows drivers instead of logitech's, something like that

2 - I think you're on 4 sensitivity 1600 dpi, keep the dpi but go down to 3 sens

3 - "crosshair placement", basically try to keep your crosshair up away from the floor and ready to shoot stuff (enemy torso/head height is good)

4 - Besides that, how you improve is up to you -
4a if you want to improve through just playing lots of games, that's definitely an option. If so I think focus on two things: 1 is crosshair placement, 2 is uptime - just making sure you're looking for things to shoot whenever you can. In reality, it's not always a good idea to look for fights, but in this case it's a good way to improve because it'll help you get more reps in and will fix one problem you have, which is spending decent chunks of time not doing much. I'd probably say to play ranked because the skill based matchmaking is stricter and you'll get put with other new players etc more consistently than in qp

4b your other option is to improve FPS fundamentals outside of OW multiplayer, which is a stressful and complicated environment compared to something like another single player FPS game. Personally I'd suggest Doom - it's really fun, you can play on lower difficulties, and it'll build up your coordination in moving and shooting. Another option you have is stuff within OW, like Play > hero mastery -- then pick something like Cassidy and you can play that to build up coordination the same way.

5 as for the gameplay, like I said OW is really complex and I think it's pointless to focus on its intricacies when what's really the issue is just FPS fundamentals. Broadly you have the right idea with Torb - put the turret down and then spam out damage. Once you fix stuff like basic mouse and movement control, you can start worrying about all the extra stuff

Is DOOM still in print?

(I think I tried Aimlabs once and ended up in third percentile; not sure I'm missing general FPS mouse technique.)

Also I haven't unlocked ranked yet.
