<@&1144841851791212564> I cannot be in VC, if anyone wants to take a look anyway that would be cool :)
ill take a peek and send over a couple notes
0:40 – this is a good position to start with
0:54 – Never never never walk at a reaper like that. Incredibly lucky you lived there
1:30 – minor thing with mechanics, slow it down and make sure those shots hit. You had that Zen dead to rights but you rushed it and that caused you to miss. Relax
1:40 – by now it is kind of too late, but you judging by where the fight is going to be (most likely either white room or on point) you need to be playing in a spot that gives you what your hero needs, range, angles, cover. Start setting up in those positions BEFORE the fight starts so that you can maximize your value by not having to rotate through the map as much
1:50 – even now, going with the last point, coach up to the highground behind you and setup. If you don’t setup, you will be forced into a scramble very often
2:50 I don’t really know about this bob. The good, it splits the tank from the rest of their team allowing them to be killed maybe. The bad, it kinda does nothing else and if that queen was alert, youd be dead trying to put yourself into that position to send bob out like that. Next time, I would hold it, let your team push, and start walking to white room as the enemy is forced back, then send bob to point and start shooting
2:53 – tank never died, so idk I think just bad bob sorry. Splitting the team is something to look out for to make a good bob though, it just didn’t yield anything here
3:40 setup
3:46 – think about effective range more. Don’t walk towards this reaper, if you outrange him, he is useless and you are a god. Don’t ever GIVE them their effective range, make them work for it
4:00 please stop peeking the window im so scared
4:30 GOOD ANGLE GOOD ROTATE, FAT PLAY
5:43 – I like this. Position is good, has visuals, cover, and is an off-angle while also taking advantage of them not being able to isolate you. Timing is good, their frontline pushes in, which turns their backline to you, letting you get free shots, while ALSO gatekeeping the supports from helping their frontline.
5:50 - I will say though, when that rein charges in, that may be your time to move up, because the fight in outrunning you and you will be useless soon. Your team insta dies though which I wouldn’t pin on you
6:26 – Setup: I can see you thinking about it. Rotate right and take the flank angle. They have nobody to isolate you like tracer or genji, so if you time the angle right, it will be huge. This will relieve pressure on you hog and allow them to push and either you or hog will kill something. Don’t hesitate. Also this goes for setup again. Not only important on defense, but also attacking. Setting up a soft flank and timing it for when your team engages. SUPER IMPORTANT
6:40 – You must make a decision here. Their rein is making a play and you need to make yours. Either help the hog fight rein, or swing the angle youre looking at to relieve pressure on hog and maybe kill somebody distracted.
7:11 – I like that you learned here. That’s step 1 to getting better. You will get it next time the first try
7:14 – PERFECT the most perfect play you could have made. Bob is GREAT, hell disrupt backline and kill things, forcing them towards you. And you will get to shoot them for free. WELL DONE. This play can be EVERY play, with the right setup. Unfortunately, your team dies because they spend 2 ults the right way and just burn them, unlucky, but don’t be discouraged
9:03 – Just because Ashe CAN shoot that fast, doesn’t mean she should. Slow it down and youll hit the shots that count
10:15 – Not a good angle for ashe. This angle is very restrictive on visuals and very disconnected from support, and also takes waaaaaay to long to get to. I know you don’t want to play down main, but this is a moment where you play main and start walking wider and wider to get visuals as the fight progresses. You cant really do nearly as much from here because you cant see anything until youre too close to them for it to matter. This may be the time you said you were holding rein forever, but that’s a two way street. You also had mercy on you so he is actually holding BOTH of you there, probably equating to more value.
11:14 – that rein is actually getting so much value holding you and mercy there, because they may not have a tank sure, but once your hog gets antid and slept, you wont have one soon either.
11:33 – tbh I do not blame the hog here. He is kinda getting ditched by his team.
12:30 – this is what I mean. Look at how much space you have and everything you can see. You can see the entire map from here, which is what you want.
Things to work on:
-
Positioning: I recommend you look at your hero and ask yourself what kinds of angles you like and why. Then find those angles on the map. You don’t have to memorize every angle like valorant just keep in mind, RANGE, VISUALS, SUSTAINABILITY. You play to your effective range, bonus points if you can play against theirs. You need to see the targets you want to kill. Sustainability is how long you can be on that angle for without getting forced out. That means you need a support player or LOS of a support or health packs or whatever.
-
Always make them fight for their value. Never walk towards a reaper, genji, Reinhardt, queen, etc. Never walk in front of a window, or a turreting bastion, etc
-
Setup: This is a super important thing to go along with positioning. Get PROACTIVE, think ahead. Where will the fight be, and where do I want to be when its happening. Once you find those positions you want to be, go go go go go. don’t wait at their spawn for them to push you out and then use cooldowns to get up there. Fight’s over? I need to start walking there now. This reduces the risk of you getting caught on rotation and maximizes how many shots youre getting out from a good position.
@modest flint if you have any questions let me know id be happy to help
Sorry for the late response, thank you so much! I will take a look at it later today.
(and I will have a buncha questions lol)
Haha word I’ll try and answer what I can👍👍
@fast geode so a few things
- I used to have much more aggressive off-angles, but I would get punished so often for setting up there and dying early, that I get discouraged and stay passive. Still have no idea when to go for the aggro setup and when to wait. Still struggle with timing of the peek
- I usually don't miss that many dynamites lmao
- Yes I have a problem with effective range and matchups, I don't know how to fix that. For some reason I love peeking and engaging until the very last moment, (i.e that reaper, peeking the hanzo until he one shots me, bap window, etc.), and have no idea how to fix it.
- On third point, to begin with, should I have gone main and go left building? Where I found myself right side, was I supposed to wait for my timing to rotate all the way back from spawn to main again? Should I have at least gone deeper and finish it quickly?
- your timing was fine honestly, just the choice of angle was off. Mostly dependant on what heroes the enemy is running, dictates how greedy/agressive you can get with your angles on ashe. the more mobile they are, the less agressive you can play.
- the mechanics are honestly not a problem, more of a nit-pick on my part. theres room for improvement but by far not your problem
- The way to fix it is just thinking about it more. matchup knowledge basically. comes with time and concious thought. overtime itll become habit
- go main yeah, idk if i would go IN left building but sticking around that corner on your side of the building is a good angle to start with once you break through the choke. when you got caught by the rein on the right side, just leave. go back main now that you know its a better angle for you
If i were to pick one thing to work on, its setup/angles. I see you understand the concept but maybe dont put it into practice in EVERY play. there are definitely some plays where you shouldnt, like vs hard dive, but 90% of the time if theyre not, that is how you take over the game
Gotcha, I will be working on that. So if they don't got a dive, I should not be scared to set up aggressively and wait for my tank
Btw should I be waiting for the tank to ENGAGE, or he can be back, but take all the attention? How can I make sure I won't get all the fire literally?
If they don’t have dive you can do more angles similar to the one you did on Night Market when you went right side. Because they don’t have anyone who can hunt you down
Generally you want to wait for your tank to engage before you commit, so if you’re taking an aggressive angle then you want to time you peaking that angle with your tank doing whatever they do do draw attention to themselves. Whether that be walking forward, diving or peeking for a hook
Yeah. Actually, even angles like junkertown 2nd long flank to bridge, worked well to me on Ashe, it's a little close though. So yeah, I should definitely be much more aggro.
If they do have dive, how do I choose my off angles? There's not many options oftentimes I'm afraid. Just going main?
Should I wait a second for them to turn around for the tank, or do my best to peek with him to cause complete chaos? It feels like if I don't wait for a moment, the enemies won't give any attention to the tank yet and just turn to me
Main is an option, you want to play to live if they’re diving you. Alternatively if you’re on something like souj with high mobility you can start in an aggressive angle and then slide to a much more defensive position. Ashe doesn’t quite have that mobility so she needs to stay a little closer
In an ideal world you want to sync it up. If they all turn to you then your tank gets to have the game of his life. Let them look at you, just don’t die for it because then say you stop peeking, they turn back to your tank, then you repeak and you get a good angle again
Yeah, it seems I only have to hide for a second or two and they lose attention
