Close loss game (the one i really need reviewed) Map: Circuit Royal
End: 2-3 L
Game where I carried ig (the not so important one) Map: Watchpoint: Gibraltar Code: RYX857 End: 3-0 W Username: Mochiix
This was a pretty close game and I've been stuck in bronze for the past 2 seasons and i just wanna get to silver. I've tried watching videos and using the advice and it helped a bit but i still lose quite a lot (rn for this season i have 18 W - 17 L) idk what to do/improve on atp and i need help. (But at least I've also been able to carry games lately like on the Watchpoint: Gibraltar one so i guess I improved a little)
I wanna learn how to mostly improve on D.va since I love playing her and I wanna one trick her to diamond (or masters if i ever get that good ) someday. And I'm gonna start out with saying i think one of my issues is playing a lil to agressive or diving in too much maybe idk and this is why i would really appreciate some advice/feedback on how to improve/rank up!

i think it's really interesting that you think you play too aggressive and dive too much
because in both games, i never saw you dive at all
both games you play d.va like she's a brawl tank
you stand in front of the enemy team and mash defense matrix every time it's the tiniest bit charged (i rarely saw your defense matrix meter go past a quarter full)
what i want to see from you is you playing d.va the way she's meant to be played, in short but impactful bursts
she's not built for these long drawn-out engagements that you enjoy taking
it's okay to take a second to hide behind cover and let your matrix charge while you decide on who to dive next
standing in front of the enemy team is a waste of everyone's resources as they keep you alive but it's especially a waste of your own resources
i think you would see drastic improvements if every few seconds you took a breath and looked at who on the enemy team is feasibly killable and in your range instead of being glued to the enemy tank 24/7
i mean for example, here you can very clearly see that brig is directly in front of you, VERY separated from her team and very killable
but you ignore her to fly towards sigma and brawl with him instead
this is a running theme throughout both of those replays
what's next for you is working on absorbing all the information in front of you as opposed to tunnelvisioning on whoever you happen to see first
also stop standing on the payload and doing nothing in between fights?
downtime doesn't exist in overwatch
time between fights can always be used to resposition and get ready for the next fight
potentially even prevent the next fight too
wdym short but impactful? can u elaborate and provide an exmple pls
ooooohh
im saying the way you play d.va is that you stand in front of the tank drawing out long fights with absolutely no impact
you prolong the fight but you're not doing anything by just mashing matrix and standing there
what would be more impactful would be if you took high ground to set up a dive and executed a dive on an out of position squishy by using your cooldowns quickly and effectively
a lot of the time you leave it up to the rest of your team to do something because you're just so preoccupied with doing nothing
ohh oki
ya thats true :/
alr thx! ill prob just add them to this thread or if u prefer me to dm u i'll just do that too
so basically i've been prolonging fights and playing d.va wrong the entire time .-.
well
yeah 😍
but if it makes you feel any better that's just how every bronze tank is
the first and easiest step to quick improvement is recognizing how you character should ACTUALLY play
lol
ok
good dvas are the ones who are constantly flying around and keeping tabs on every single enemy so they know exactly where to be at any given moment
matrix too important to just toss it out for no reason
yeaa i have a bad habit of doing that :/
oki
hopefully i can be that soon :D
question- how do u excatly execute a dva dive correctly?
and do u have any specific gameplay i can look at?
biggest mistake as dva you’re making is not buying her funny toxic voicelines and spamming “Wow, this is easy mode!” every time you kill someone
/hj
idk if i'd be able to put it into words well enough but a good dive should be fast, not too committal (unless it's really worth it), and be a heavy nuisance for the enemy team to take care of
in all honestly playing dive is actually more about the threat of making a dive and forcing the enemy to react to the threat instead of actually making a dive
i don't have any specific videos to show you but people like emongg and spilo so like
Hope you enjoy the Overwatch 2 Gameplay! Been loving OW2 a TON so far!

look at who he's attacking and why
notice how in the first fight he does nothing to the enemy tank until they're the last person left alive
he's pushing the enemy out of position, he's making mercy's life a nightmare, etc
when he sees a squishy out of position he immediately snaps to take advantage of that and kill them
DVA is one of the most popular and dynamic tank heroes in the entire game. Bombs, matrix, boosters, and missiles- what's not to love? Unfortunately, she can be a very difficult hero to master, so Coach Spilo goes in DEPTH on his best tips, tricks, and playstyle advice for learning her in the current meta!
