In the second picture, there are AE conduits, so you can run AE cables in the same block as conduits. Though you still can't put buses/interfaces and so on in the same block.
Yeah, ME conduits are an option. I suppose they are somewhat expensive early on, requiring a comparable cost to smart cables needing one circuit per 4 cable, and later once those circuits are cheap, I would personally prefer to minimise conduit use where possible for FPS. It could certainly help in some compact designs though, using insulated redstone conduits and possibly a conduit switch also.
Yeah, I use ME cables (covered, non-smart for FPS) for most of the wiring; but in tight spaces I put a couple of conduits to intersect with item/fluid movement.
I literally just wired this

Not bad, muffler sharing. Good if you have pollution on and one of those advanced high tier mufflers too.
Yea, makes upgrading them easier/cheaper.
i have the vague recollection that me conduit tends to misbehave in some way... lag?
Possibly if you spam them too much, not sure.
I don't know how much "work" do ME cables/conduits have to do, assuming you're not rebuilding the network all the time.
can't quite recall. it was probably during a discussion on a conduit related crash, and someone mentions me conduit being even worse and should be avoided as much as possible
though that's just "someone" whose name I cannot even remember, so don't take it too seriously
try remove me conduits first though if you ever run into weird issues with ME network or tps
Yea, I want to stay away from any performance talk because I really have no experience profiling things myself, and there is probably more misinformation floating around than actual data.
yeah it's just a FYI
OOH, this is awesome actually, I like to use covers and try to make em match but didn't know this
