I'd get a glossy, a matte one will turn glossy in certain spots anyway and I feel a gloss finish is a bit better in protecting against staining

and whether you should buy a better one is kinda up to you if you want to spend the money and think it will be well spent

Yeah I'll probably go to my local guitar center when I can and try a few models for myself if there's a really cool model there i might put a little more money

tho the matte finish yamaha c40 is like 50% cheaper btw for some reason
