#Can't decide which way to go for my next guitar

Okay so this may be a little complicated, but here's my situation,

#

Right now I have a 120 dollar SX VTG Strat that I modified and set up and it sounds and looks pretty good but the fretwork could be better, but I don't want to invest more money into it right now as it's not really my style and I'd want something that fits me better

look up guitars that look like theyd be good to u and go to a guitar store and try em out

#

get the feel of it

#

and make sure it fits your playstyle

Now I have two ways to go for this,

Either I save up for about 600 dollars for 6 months and get a Gretsch Streamliner or Squier Classic Vibe Thinline Telecaster or maybe an Ibanez hollowbody

Or I get a 200 dollar Donner 335 clone next month and gradually upgrade it, first with better electronics, and then get some fretwork done and change some of the hardware as I need in the following months, and normally I'd say I'm better off waiting but the thing is I could probably get a job in about 9 months because I'll be old enough so I can just work and get the money much faster, so if I go with the Donner I'd be saving up for something better like a Fender Player or Gibson Tribute

They don't let us try guitars at stores in my country if we're not gonna buy them immediately

save up for it

safer

else u might spend money for a mid guitar

#

that wouldnt feel good to u

why do you assume you wont need fretwork done for the gretsch or squier or ibanez

I do know it won't really be as good as the ones in the 600 dollar range and that brand has a bad reputation but at least it'll still cost about half the price of the others with mods and I won't have to wait as long, and if I do those sell secondhand very fast here for some reason so I could just sell it back off, but yeah I just wanted to hear some opinions on it

you can still get dodgy fretwork on a 600 dollar guitar

#

mainly because that's still more or less

a budget guitar

I don't really need it to be at the quality of a 3000 dollar Gibson or something, but as long as it's playable it's alright for me, my 200 dollar Harley Benton bass has good enough fretwork, the fret ends are pretty smooth and it's all level and seems to be crowned properly, not perfect but good enough

#

I would definitely get another Harley Benton but I can't really do that anymore in my country for complicated reasons

#

So I guess my two options are,

Wait about 6 months for a better but still budget guitar that may still need some work and not too late after that I'd be able to get a job to get something even better anyways

Or get a cheaper guitar that would definitely need some work without waiting and get the work done, and when the time comes I'd just get a job and work for 2-3 months to get something "professional".

I think I'm leaning more towards the second option.

What will the difference be in the inexpensive guitar you have, and a new inexpensive guitar? Just the style basically and potentially better fret work? Maybe get a set of fret and crowning tools for cheap for npw?

#

You get what you pay for most times with tools, but there may be some inexpensive ones that will work.
