Like it says in the title I'm looking for a set of pickups to upgrade in my Epiphone ES-339. It's an older pro model with coil split and ebony fretboard.
To sort of make it a bit easier I'm a strat person. I love single coils and P90s. I don't yet own a P90 guitar but it's on the wishlist. I play way too much John Mayer and blues in general, some neo soul and I'm dipping into retrowave.

I have this 339 because I wanted something with a humbucker but I've never been in love with the sound. I love the feel of the guitar but, the humbuckers sound dark to me and a bit muddy. I primarily use it in single coil mode on the neck and maybe humbucker on the bridge. It may be a user issue and please tell me if it is but I find it hard to find nice tones I like. I can get decent lead tones and pretty good Santana sound with this but other than that it feels like fighting the guitar, pedalboard and the amp. Due to this the guitar doesn't feel as inspiring to play as my strat.

After some research I've found Lambert ones pickups and thought that they might be a good fit for me. I'm concerned with the low output and tonal signature. I want a set of humbuckers but I feel like these would be too much towards a single coil sound. There are also no examples of coil split sound online. What other pickups would you guys recommend with split functionality or even without that sound great to a person that loves single coils but is still to fall in love with his own playing of humbuckers? Does this guitar sound good actually and is it just my shitty playing or bad pedals, amp and EQ?

Added the current pedalboard and an image of my amp. Blues junior IV. I've had it modified to reduce the voltage on the tubes and changed to better capacitors

heres the issue

#

you cant have ur cake and eat it

#

so if ur goal is primarily nicer single coil split shit

#

the humbucker itself has to sound darker / muddier

#

because a coil split is really just chopping off the humbuckers balls and giving you whats left, and if the balls arent much to begin with than the splits gonna sound puny

#

u have to prioritize which you rather sound nicer

#

another thing is you likely dont like how humbuckers sound right now because youre very use to single coils brightness
