Im wanting to get the Nevermind tone and a Fender Lt25 and a DS-1. I'm assuming its mainly the bridge pickup thats being used but do they use the neck pickup?

99% is the bridge pickup for sure

Drain you is the neck, lithium is the neck, verse chorus verse is the neck, old age is the neck

unreal mason
#

Oh I didn't know that

For nevermind the guitar doesn’t matter as much as long as you have a single coil in the neck and humbucker in the bridge

#

The amp matters way more

#

specifically the speakers

sturdy cypress
#

you have the right speakers?

I just have the Fender Mustang Lt25

Okay so then you don’t have the speakers

#

You don’t have the exact setup then

#

Getting the tone for Nevermind is mostly those speakers

#

Like 98% of it

Also, nervermind has a lot of guitar layers. And each layer is a different tone

#

Possibly done with different mics and or mic position. All that effects the tone

#

So unless you have all that it can be tough to get it perfect

Oh

You could do something similar. Find a tone that blends in and fits with the mix. If you actually had the exact same tone it would be hard to hear yourself in a mix if you were trying to play along

I dont know enough about tones to get some familiar

While the song is playing set your amp settings until it sounds good with what you are playing

Same mic pos and everything just different preamps being swapped

#

If you have the right speakers tho preamp doesn’t matter you can similar results on different preamps

#

Just listen to the stems of the songs and mess with your amp until you get close

#

If you don’t have the right speaker or one that’s similar enough your not going to be able to get that close without some form of post eq

unreal mason
#

Oh

unreal mason
#

But how can I get it with my set up

#

#

theres a guy on youtube who i forgot the name of but he replicated the nevermind tone 1:1

@unreal mason if you set your ds-1 right and eq your amp right, you can get a pretty good nirvana tone

you wont get the exact studio tones with your gear (alot of regular people wont) but you can get close enough for playing live

#

I use a squier classic vibe mustang

#

For clean section and solo like in bloom and teen spirit

#

And this for distorsion

#

And a use 10-52 polyweb elixir string
