This one 😄
what are you looking for out of a guitar
@fiery trail what do you currently own and what do you like playing ?
I have a Squier Affinity Stratocaster
I'm looking for a reliable guitar with a reliable tremolo that will last me for a few years if not longer, that holds the chord well, has a good sound and good lutherie to accompany me as much as possible.
I play blues/rock mostly from the 60s/70s
@slate hornet
@shrewd sage
while I believe you can play anything on any guitar, you probably want something that matches the music you play ... which is not really my wheelhouse. I bet the fender is great but a grand can get you quite a lot of great guitars
I'd probably look into something like a Pacifica 612 over a SSS strat
pickup require batteries?
i don't see a battery cavity
that's just the electronics cavity
no, where else would the knobs and switches be housed
id prefer the Nick Johnston over a vintera
does it come with SS frets ?
no
most things in this price range arent
and tbh, id rather companies use tried and true nickel over half assed stainless steel if they’re not gonna put extra care into it
stainless steel isnt that fun to work with, both fret dressing AND installation
if a company isnt gonna give extra care into installing stainless steel and just treats it as something to pad their spec sheet, thats just more headache down the line
i get this point .. and not all stainless steel or nickel is created equally
the good nickel frets don't wear out as fast as the cheap chinese shit for sure
I think for 60s/70s blues rock the Vintera 60s is a solid choice. I would personally look for a good deal on a road worn, maybe used, for I prefer thinner/nitro finish guitars. Still have a Vintera rw tele that plays great.
this guitar doesn't have active pickups
another option is a telecaster
there's a company that makes a tremolo for teles thats literally straight up a drop in system
absolutely 0 modification needed, plug and play type deal
60s-70s blues rock guitar
The Fender Player II Strat would be a good compromise, don't you think?
Already it has the trussord at the headstock unlike the Vintera, it costs a little less too https://www.thomann.fr/fender_player_ii_strat_rw_3ts.htm
I'm not looking for a Telecaster I want a strat, I have a telecaster project but for that I'd probably buy something like a Squier Classic Vibe 50s Butterscotch but really later on I need a guitar that will follow me for years
so you want an SSS guitar?
Yeah
But the Fender Player II have not know problem and on the used market i can get it for like 500€/600€
i'd still go for the nick johnston then
i just prefer the control layout, the hardware, the truss rod style and location, the neck
and it has a better nut so better tuning stability
I will compare few things and see
i think there's a youtube video or two
