i want to get an audio interface for only amp sim purposes, and i am a beginner don't care about higher quality sound or recording at all nor in future its just a hobby, i was looking at cheapest thing that would let me play my guitar with minimal noise, plan to use some delay pedal sim as well. would maudio solo be decent enough or i should get the focusrite, mtrack solo is about $60 here and solo4th fen is about $175 and no previous gen models are available now.
#maudio mtracksolo or scarlett solo gen4

the guitar i just bought is called squier sonic series HSS , i plugged into my mb directly with an adaptor and there was too much noise in several softwares i tried, on both mic in and line in inputs
Get the behringer 202hd ... Cheap, simple, has 2 inputs, good driver support
And has switchable line/instrument level and pads ...which definitely help for guitars with hotter output
wouldn't it make sense to just get scarlett at that price?🤔 i don't need a mic input at all let alone 2
The 202 has 2 combo inputs ...for guitar and mic ... When you run an interface you'll have to run everything through it ...so you probably will need a mic input anyway ... The scarlet series are notorious for not handling hot signals very well and clipping very easily
And why would it make sense to get a device for the same amount with less features ?!?
oh i see , i thought scarlett was better because everyone says that
is this guitar considered on the hotter side ?
Probably not ... Usually the super hot pickups are actives or some Seymour Duncans
But still ...having a choice between line and instrument level is essential for getting a good DI signal
A good recording starts at the source
i see , thanks for your time ill look more into it 🙏🏻
ok so i received my Mtrack solo today and guess what it was defective out of the box , applied for a refund and never touching cheap stuff again lol
strangely it seems to be common thing with audio interfaces , even with umc202hd or scarlett solo i have noticed unusually high reviews about defective or partly defective products
i am not sure should i even get 202 now, seems like these things are not built decently
do you have experience with 202hd, how is the driver situation with windows 10
theres another thing i was looking at , blackstar idcore10 v4 amp, it can work as an AI as well if needed 🤔
i have one sitting next to me as we speak ... works great, also on Win10 and 11, also on Linux .. the build quality is actually pretty good, solid metal case etc ... good pre-amps too
yes but the thing is they usually don't come with a dedicated ASIO driver and then you have to rely on ASIO4ALL ... which is just dogshit
you sure it was defective ? or did you just not install the correct drivers ?
i installed the latest driver for the thing ,it doesnt recognise it also the lit up u usually get from device when plugging in it doesnt happen with this
like nothing on windows device manager either
that sounds like DOA indeed, or a USB problem (USB2 vs USB3) ... but probably the former
yea i tried with a different cable too, and on all the ports and on a different pc altogher, DOA it is
