Around that price point, Boss Katana MK2 100W is arguably the best choice for solid state.... has a great speaker too. it also has FX loop and selectable wattage 0.5W / 50 W / 100 W with the attenuator. More options if you connect by USB and use Boss Tone Studio on your computer
Modeller amps are the only others that come close, to my ear anyway, but take note they DO NOT have FX loops in most cases
If you want pedals or a Multi-FX in the future, get a combo amp with a FX Loop
There are many great amps at ~300, but Boss Katana is the most complete in terms of what you can do with it for the price
Depends if you need a physical speaker for output, or if you'd be happy with headphones - if you play mostly at home.
If it's the former... definitely a Katana.
If it's the latter, you get much more with a MultiFX unit. You can easily connect it to your computer and record with it usually through USB, if the gig place has a mixerboard or house PA, you can easily connect to that as well...
You also get some important extras with are usually not included with amps, such as a metronome, tuner, drum machine, and looper. All depends on what you're looking for.
