Looking at purchasing a lifer. Either a double-cut PRS (model dependent on neck) or a Tele American Ultra.

Ideally would be my do-anything, go to guitar but I keep changing my mind.

Want something versatile, that plays well with awesome tone and suits blues, rock, little bit of country (I know this last one is tele favoured). Gig regularly, play daily or every other day at least.

Will put some reactions below for a vote as polls aren’t working. Any other recommendations or comments feel free.

More than happy to listen to suggestions or take recommendations and advice.

altho with your big budget

i'd probably choose an ibanez az2402

Not too familiar with Ibanez’s

@river cape Quite a few specs in the AZ2402. Wondering if you could narrow this down a little? Heading to store now

reason i chose it for you was because of the stainless steel frets (increased longevity), luminlay side dots (better neck visibility at darker shows), the prestige series in ibanez generally being pretty top tier shit, some luxury addons like locking tuners and titanium saddles, and switching systems having a decent range of additional sounds

#

some bits of it are overkill compared to the features on the PRS and tele

#

but if this is gonna be a for lifer and do everything guitar

#

it has some more of those aspects that make it a “for life” guitar for me

#

especially the stainless steel frets

#

the az2204 is also an option if u want an HSS layout like a strat but it has 22 frets instead of 24 if u care about that

Tried all 4 and about 12 others and got on better with the tele, but they only have gloss neck finish in store and I can’t be having that

#

Also the one they have in stock has a maple fretboard, personally I think rosewood is superior feel-wise and tone wise. So I think what I’ll do is search for a second hand tele in the specs I want, re-set it up, and buy more pedals

Yeah

That’s what I was looking at 🙂

#

on the other hand, with your budget, you could probably build a custom tele from warmoth with your preferred neck, color, etc

Never really something I’ve looked into tbf

river cape
#

basically like a kit you spec out

#

and then assemble

#

everything from woods

#

to even adding comfort carves on the teles body

#

both arm and tummy

#

or changing up the neck shape to be thicker slimmer, etc

#

stainless steel frets if you want the thing to last forever too
