#should I buy a high end epiphone or a low end Gibson

Which particular models are you considering
I would go Gibson. If not for anything else, the resale value.
And probably modify it with new pickups.
gibson has resale yeah none are particularly worth it tho imo
Then don’t get a Gibson. I love mine.
thats why i never did
must be great 😌
doesnt change much ig
So you are saying they should dismiss the specs and just get a guitar for its resell value?
I’d get an epiphone prophecy over any Gibson
And get a Solar G1.6 over any epiphone or Gibson lol
The Epiphone 1959 standard has Gibson pickups im pretty sure
Is around that 1k dollar mark
I’d imagine that’s the closest possible thing to an actual Gibson Les Paul
The resale value isn't there for Gibson as others may think. The used market is flooded with gibsons all over. Honetly you can get a used gibson les paul studio for 800-1200 USD. Epiphone will have some cool features on the higher end models if you like the classic look with modern appointments.
It would be good to know which model you want to get. If you're thinking about buying a Les Paul style guitar then there are plenty of other options as well and personally I wouldn't get stuck on just those two mentioned brands. There's FGN, Tokai, Orville by Gibson and probably many others. Although resale value is a topic, I would rather focus on getting a instrument that feels and sounds well, that should be your main priority.

Greco too
I don't say that. Gibson's are great guitars. If you like them, you should get one. Also, it has much better resale value than Epiphones, at least where I live.
Really, "over any Gibson"?
Personally I’d get the epiphone to keep as a guitar to use, but I’d get the Gibson and sell it asap
I dont think theres many guitars over $1000 that are worth buying in general
No matter how expensive the logo is lol
Unless it’s like a custom one you order
In my opinion
The cutoff for me is like 1.5k beyond that is so small
Yeah the few worth $1000+ are custom
Personally I'd get the Gibson and use it, but YMMV. My Gibson is like 50 years old or something, and still great.
Yes, pretty much purely for fishman pickups
Yes
First time I can ever 90% agree with you
To me the limit for a production made guitar is 1500
If it’s custom made - depends on the specs and quality
Tell me - what Gibson Les Paul has better specs than Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy?
And it probably will be the same or better quality than a new Gibson anyway
Yo can put active pickups in a Gibson as well, but you already knew that.
What specs are you talking about? Since they're both single cutaway guitars built pretty similar, the specs might be pretty similar. For me what it comes down to is playability, feel, and how it sounds. I don't think specs alone tells if it's a good or great guitar. If you think Epiphone is the better choice, Godspeed.
Yeah but the qc is on the same level and the price difference is too much
Maybe Epi's have gotten a lot better the past few years, but the QC didn't use to be on the same level. Nor how they felt to play, IMO.
I tried an Epiphone Les Paul in a store a couple years ago, and it was nice. But not quite like a Gibson to me, anyways. I guess proper action adjustment would have helped, and I'm not knocking it or saying it was bad. I could easily own one myself, but I would choose the Gibson pretty mych any day.
I have tried Gibson standards and deluxes and was disappointed
Definitely not good enough for the money
They had the same "feel" as my Harley
Even worse I’d say because mine has ss frets
I'm sitting with my 70's Deluxe now, and i think it feels great. Fun fact, it has "Epiphone" mini-humbuckers. Haven't tried any of the re-issues. tho.
Haven't found an Epiphone or any other guitar that feels equally good yet.
High end epiphone
as long as you get a setup and fretwork done it should play nicely
