#795553671773290536 has some good recommendations. Can't really go wrong with a Yamaha FG800 or FS800 and a good setup
Steel or nylon just depends on the sound you like or what you're interested in playing
If nylon then you would be looking for a classical guitar
if i am interested in rock/metal on the acoustic, is steel better?
id like to learn an acoustic first because its cheaper overall, and i heard its harder than an electric so i would be better when i shift over
plus, theres an old electric in my house that just needs to be restrung and it should work i hope
its a squier strat
Sure, whatever gets you most motivated to learn is good 🙂
thanks for the recs, u got any more tips on picking a guitar?
Whatever you buy is going to need something called a setup. It's probably the most important thing for a new guitar to play well, no matter what you buy
I don't think you can go wrong with a Yamaha FG800 or FS800 depending on the size you like
And you can always look used/local because it's a common guitar you can find used
