Sympathetic fifth root Barre chords with overdrive create that deeper Fuller power chord sound. 5577xx, 3355xx.

Very Fugazi ish band. Cool.

Second tune uses tritone intervals to start (six semitones apart)and the aforementioned sympathetic fifth root power chords.

In a c major scale, the tritone is f and b

In g Major it's between c and f#

Once you add the sympathetic fifth root things will sound lower for sure.

First tune obviously is using a lot of open low Es. Definitely sounds standard tuning.
