I feel like fishmans are more versatile while EMG’s are more suited for high gain stuff like metal

Well the classic EMG humbucker models (81/85/60) tend to be rather compressed. Fishman are going for an active pickup that sounds more like a passive. If you're comparing the two, the EMG 57/66 might be a better comparison

you won't get the same dynamics from a 81/85 or 81/60 set, but if you play super fast technical death metal, you won't get the same definition from the Fluences. So it generally is what you want.

just gome some EMG's, to be honest i feel like they sound a bit flat/muddy . I got way better Kirk hammet solo tone with passives.

If you don't like regular EMGs, try EMG X's, I find they sound better to my ear but I'm not really an EMG gal, Fishmans sound less compressed to my ear and have more tonal versatility with the different voicings

I probably would go for Fishmans if I used active pickups just based on the versatility and overall tone, I've been getting into experimental, dissonant, jazz influenced stuff but I still want to be able to play metal

I don't like actives as much as passives but if I had to pick between EMG and Fishmans I would go with Fishmans

EMGs are kinda hated and I think the reason is because they are not very versatile, but they do high gain and aggressive clean very well. Fishmans are more of an everything option
