#Telecaster or Jazzmaster?

Ive seen Jazzmasters on music is wins channel, and in that video it seems really versatile and smooth sounding. However, I love the telecaster neck pickup and the shape of the body. which do u prefer?
always telecaster. not even a contest
Telecaster seems more versatile for genres but then again you can use any guitar for any genre
Just as long as it works for you
Telecaster
both are great but I'm biased in favor of the jazzmaster. love my MIJ
That is actually somewhat unpopular opinion, loving telly neck pickup. 😄
Its a telly if you ask me
Telecaster, no contest at all
everyone has a Tele.
I think thats not relevant, you should get what you want, not based on what other people have
ik i just wanted to hear everyones opinions
It was reply to comment above mine 🙂
imo, you should try both
if you can
and see which one works for you when you play it
I would go with a telecaster
^^^^^
jazzmaster for metal/rock
IMHO: Tele, no contest. Is a better fit for the expected/conventional sound of more genres, more stable/reliable, simple and low maintenance (in all aspects, mechanical and aural). Tonally there’s precious little that the Jazzmaster is outright better at doing than a Tele
All things equal, really the best thing the JM has over the Tele is the body shape, especially if the ol slab feels uncomfortable/un-ergonomic to you personally. The trem also has some unique applications that are more niche but can be a lot of fun - and a lot of maintenance, full stop. Some will say it’s worth it though
- current Jazzmaster owner and longtime obsessive turned tele-stan, now neutral
telly can be used for metal and rock too
and is/was used
Depends on genre
True, Joe Duplantier from Gojira uses them live, his signature has two humbuckers but he also uses single coil teles
Let me find a video, heaviest single coil tele I've ever heard
One of the hottest bands in Heavy Metal today, Gojira have created a unique sound and style. In this video, Joe Duplantier will show you how you too can play with a similar sound.
It would also work good for math rock, especially the neck pickup, teles have great neck pickups, its almost glassy sounding, very smooth
And the bridge pickup has just the right amount of bite for more aggressive tones
Both pickups give it more twang
Also Tom Morello, RATM
I mean, I am not advocating against Jazzmaster, but saying Jazzmaster will do rock better than tele is just... not valid ( same would be other way around prolly ) 😄
Both are great guitars
Jazzmasters take more maitenance
I personally prefer teles but go to a music store, try both, and see which one you like 🙂
Telejazzster
Yea but I think jazzmaster is better for metal
Reminds me of the Jagstang
jazzmaster is more likely to pop a string if you bend too hard
yea but it has better pickups for rock/metal
they're still single coils and you require a noise gate if you're doing metal
JBE's are good pickups for metal on a tele
heck fender's $60 tex mex pickups are also good enough for 80's metal. iron maiden and such
Here's a little song I came up with that came from an idea that popped up when playing a few licks I learned from my friend Luke McQueary. Signal chain is Suhr classic T - Lindy fralin blues specials - Fender DRRI.
the tone you get on a tele comes down to amp settings and pickups
also, if you are going to predominantly play metal, you would probably not be choosing between telly and jazzmaster at first place
also, tele deluxe series have HH configuration
I would recomend checking out the squire cabronita its a tele body shape with jazzmaster pickups I have one and absoltley love it
We’re used to seeing live touring acts stop into CME—but, it’s not often that we get our own private concert! No matter what descriptors one might use to describe Baroness’s music, the way they use classic guitar models equipped with single-coil pickups to paint lush sonic landscapes is a reminder to musical artists of any genre that, often, the...
tele neck pickup is he one for me
Check out the Sqier contemporary tele RH.
Tele with p90's :^P
Telecaster
that has a humbucker not the lipstick single coil
It’s a great sounding guitar.
i know it is
just not really my style
its great at what its meant to do
I dont really know how else to describe it, but the "hooty" sound from a strat and tele neck, can that be replicated on a p90 because it is technically single coil?
P90 is a bit more distortion ...
distortion aimed? distortionless? wdym
p90 has warmer, fuller sound
and higher output
than classic SC
if you get telly with p90 expect it to be hotter than telly bridge
and I really love neck pickup on my telly, I don't know why the hate for it among people 😄
Here ya go
imo this is the only thing keeping the offset tele design from ✨perfection✨
not the jack, damn bottom bout keeps getting bumped around whenever I sit down near any floor or protruding surface
Normal tele jack is s-tier
Get the telecaster
No one has ever had a telecaster and not loved it
no disagreements on the jack, it is indeed s-tier
the slab body is uncomfy asf though, even with comfort cuts its not as radiused
I see you are a man of sophistication too
A belly cut solves my gripes there
if i could only have one between both stock models, teles all the way
