Theres a number of different problems that can cause you to start from the pits. Replacing a major component before the race qualifies, but its really up to the FIA to decide wether or not they just get a grid penalty or a pit lane start

I think this race they found an issue before the start and had to work on the car. Therefore they couldnt make the time requirement to be on the starting grid 5 minutes before the start

this race aston martin started from the pitlane as the fuel they had was too cold and they needed to do some work on it. So, instead of risking a penalty they started from the pits
