If you’re taking about Sophia Flörschs crash at Macau, that wasn’t due to a sausage kerb.

I think, clearly, they're there as a deterrent. Is this an increasingly suspect decision? yes. But I don't think there's any question as to WHY they are there. To discourage you from driving there.
they are more deterrent than smaller curbs, and less deterrent than a wall. I think the question is, what would fit in that role better?
