The rules seem pretty similar to US. I dunno where you're from tho. You'll need to look up specific rules for the are you're going to be in tho. When I was planning my trip I didn't find any specific restrictions in any of the areas I was headed into tho. I think that has a lot to do with season tho. I'm not sure its quite fire season there yet.

Specific areas have their own fire restrictions, afaik. Some places have total fire ban all the time, some places open it up in autumn/winter

In regards to food places in the CBD
- Cheap: Walk down Queen ST, most places are cheap-ish in this area
- Fancy: Visit the CBD Viaduct (this is an area near the harbour).. (the place vip ticket holders are having food with GGG is in this area)
In regards to dessert places, a quote from my desert connoisseur as to his recommendations:
"Miann, Gateau House, Oko, Giapo (Aint bad... just dont go super sweet), Federal Deli(For the pie), The Pie Piper(For the pie), Milse(If you want to feel fancy and spend way too much on too little food), Mrs Higgins(I am a sucker for a good cookie), Meet Fresh"

Previous GGG meetup experience, talking to SC players, really you realise you're playing a different game to them, no offence to anyone.
There aren't as many HC players these days, so it's good to hang out with them, also future friending/helping possibilities. You can't get help from SC if you play HC

I'm merely offering a socialisation opportunity for overseas HC players to join an established Aus/NZ HC guild in the evening during ExileCon since we're going to be a large group already. If you look at poeapps.com you can see from trading stats HC is a diminishing community.
Auckland is huge, there are a lot of people going to ExileCon, anyone is able to organise their own alternative, inclusive event

@visual galleon I've done Aus-UK and Aus-NA a ton. Top tips:
-drink loads of water. Yes you have to pee more, that's fine, getting up is healthy too. But plane air is very dry and you will feel dehydrated and shitty if you don't. Buy a big bottle at the airport, don't rely on the tiny cups
-Use one of those travel pillows that wraps around your neck. Only way to avoid a horrible neck ache when trying to sleep
-Try to sleep when it would make the most sense for you to sleep at your destination. If you'd have to wake up super early in order to be tired enough to do that, do. Don't take sleeping pills. I don't know the medical reason, but something about the conditions on a plane can cause people to have adverse reactions to them, according to a doctor who treated a lady behind me on one long flight who had exactly that happen.
-strongly recommend having a podcast or something to listen to. Much better to try and drift off to sleep listening to something than watching something. Plus trying to watch TV for that long in such a cramped environment gets boring fast, at least for me
-when you arrive, stay awake until a sensible time at any cost. Gives you a big head start on the jetlag
