So lately I’ve been playing a game called path of exile... the developers have a habit of changing things up every 3 months... I haven’t even been playing that long and they have released a patch nerfing the living piss out of my character.... shit like this is why I still play d1 20 years later... this obsessive patching and nerfing anything decent (which is all my character is/was) in modern games is something I am simply not onboard with.... given... any time playing a video game is “wasted” but with this shit thier doing it’s even worse... even in the virtual world of the game my effort isnt worth jack shit
Now has an attack speed multiplier of 75% does this mean my total attack speed will get times 0.75
gaintrain patching and balancing is part of all modern games.

@graceful zinc you also may not realize this. But it's not about your thing being strong. Its called they cycle the meta to keep the game fresh. They kill one to raise another. Eventually your thing comes back to be strong again.

dual strike was my dream build and now it's in stronger place, you just need to learn not to rely on one meta build. meta shifting is a thing in this game.

I remember back a couple years ago, when i played a game called League of Legends, there was this one char, lee sin, who was simply obnoxiously overpowered. They weren't nerfing it because he was flashy when played in tournaments. So they decided to buff it more and more, in order to make it show off.
Many times the changes aren't to achieve balance, but actually to break it to make something more played. But this pisses off many people, as it's simply a "either play this style, or just quit the game as you won't do shit anymore". That's what's going to happen with Occultist.
I mean. If ya dont like it. Dont play. It really is that simple.

Because i am somewhat new to the game (despite playing it when it came out and then returning before Delve)., but older players can happily tell you that back then, one of the strengths of the game was the extensive tree, which allowed multiple classes as in a play-it-as-you-want.

My build wasn’t op at all. They literally are removing a key “ability” from the elementalist ascendancy ... now I’m stuck with a level 90 character and 10 exalts worth of gear which may all more or less be worthless

as well as nerf half of my stuff. Mid-league patches are no good, only should be issued in case something goes really wrong, such as an spell doing 10x as much dmg as intended, or stuff preventing progress

power charge would give you a dubious boost at best, and degen reduction isn't nearly as strong as it would seem

Multiple Storm Brands can no longer 'shotgun' enemies with their overlapping areas of effect.
I think it means each mob can only be affected by the AoE pulse of at most one brand? But what about if the mob also has two brands attached? Does it take 3 brands worth of damage every pulse? That's a nerf from the maximum 5, but it's not awful.

So for example if you place it right glacial cascade shotguns

On the other hand when you hit Brand Recall right now you get a big instant burst of 5x brands hitting on top of you, and I'd assume that is what is no longer possible

right. but you're allowed to have two brands attached to an enemy; that's the whole point of the Runebinder keystone. so presumably you can get more than one brand's damage?

There's a difference between Shotgunning and AoE Overlap
Shotgunning specifically is multiple projectiles from the same cast/attack hitting a target. Like GMP + Burning Arrow used to, if you were close enough, hit a single enemy with all 5 arrows.
Shotgunning is no longer a thing.
does Molten Strike shotgun? each projectile is a little AoE circle.
That's AoE overlap
As the skill is ground targeted, and does AoE damage upon landing. Rather than the actual projectile hitting a target
So how does Storm Brand shotgun? "Sends beams to 3 Enemies, including the Branded Enemy".
the closest thing to something functioning like shotgunning is fireball's aoe overlap

Are you positive there's an AoE in Storm Brand? My understanding is it's more like chaining; the brand will zap 3 nearby mobs. Not all mobs.

Scourge Arrow doesn't shotgun, but it's projectiles are secondary, which allows them to hit targets multiple times. Similar to Tornado Shot.
Anyway my read is the change means that even if a mob is standing near a bunch of Branded enemies, it will only get zapped once per pulse now, no longer zapped by 2+. still don't understand what happens if a Brand is also attached to the mob.

Brands do single target damage to the enemy they're attached to, if the brand zaps a nearby enemy, the AoE damage from that zap can hit the enemy the brand is attached to.

Cause right now, my build has a 3second bubble of 10k that absorbes SPELL damage and all ele damage... which is just.... nuts.

that feels strong but i know that for melee damage often when you just add like 10-25 base physic damage it hugly boost your late game DPS so i guess its the same for chaos, as long they they add raw chaos damage directly on gem its just make your tree more flexible without those mendatory nodes.

but its true if you activate it you'd need a skill to alternate between the two stances

The Blood/Sand toggle is the one that works different from an aura. It reserves mana, but I believe it just gives you a skill that swaps, rather than turning on/off
Flesh/Stone just sounds like a regular aura that you turn on/off
So if you are using flesh/stone, you would just turn it on once, and you would be using Blood/Sand to swap between the different aura effects. The aura itself stays on the whole time
the thing that is not exactly clear is whether or not allies also using blood/sand can also proc the aura effect

If I have allies, and they have blood and sand, I want to assume that it will let them proc the effect, but it's not stated.

It's so weird how they made some nodes generic attack damage but others are still just physical
The aura affects enemies though. And sounds like it keys off a proc from the attacker, which should mean that it depends on whether or not the attacker is using blood/sand.
Especially if it's intended to be an Aura, which appears to behave like a curse

Any time there are multiple enemies in the "cone" your attack hits.
Say you use heavy strike. It'll naturally hit several enemies if they're all clumped in the area. Melee splash would then splash on all of them

Added a new Strength Support Gem - Rage: Supports melee attacks, causing you to gain 1 Rage when you hit an enemy with a supported skill, with a short exclusion timer on Rage gain from the support. That's hardly a nerf at all then! Each Storm Brand zaps 3 nearby enemies. I guess in 3.6 sometimes a single Brand would zap the same mob twice/thrice? I would never have expected that.

@quartz dome they basiclly make it 30% reduced compared to 20% base
berserker is fucking insane
30% reduced damage taken sounds pretty good
can also take soul of steel if you're in that neighborhood, for even more dr
55% inc fortify effect while standing still, 45 while moving
next fucking league berserker is getting nerfed into the ground
there's no way they're allowing shaper and uber elder kills without any investment
also not to mention i have both impale notables in that tree
and it's purephys, so that's a lot more damage

I'm trying to build a frenzy facebreakers Impale build because the frenzy's more multiplier stacking with facebreakers is huge. I wish frenzy would've got added damage though.
