Are you using Ingenuity? If so, Rare rings can give a lot of resistance - so those gloves being stacked with res could be wasteful

So your armour is worth 1.2 at defending against physical hits as long as you are not on Low Energy Shield.
so armour reduces dmg to shield, this just increases that?
Armour decreases physical damage you take from hits. This node effectively makes it so whatever your armour is you defend as having (your armour) * 1.2
ok so it's just physical hits to shield, resistances would cover the respective dmg's to shield/hp
Its just physical damage you would take - where that dmg gets taken is based on other parts of your build. All that node does is basically increase your current armour for the purposes of calculating dmg mitigation

Im seeing some ice strike builds and ppl seems to use weapons with physical damage only. Why is it bad to use cold dmg on my warstaff instead?
because you can get more phys dmg
They are also most likely running double herald set ups - which allows all that phys to convert to the appropriate dmg type and then be converted as needed to get them to chain

Physical dmg can naturally get higher on Quarterstaves than elemental

You could use a weapon that has a Fire damage roll on it - and now your Ice Strike is also igniting. So if you want to do something that is benefited by triggering an ignite - then getting flat fire can be beneficial. But in general - you want the highest dmg weapon you can get

highest you can get - a low rolled one wont be very good unless your rings are insane

I was toying with the idea of going past it on a weapon swap for the totem nodes. I've done some pinnacle farming and want to make a goofy witchhunter. I guess maybe a better question would be - do crossbows have any crit potential?

a number of the xbow builds right now are doing lightning setups - and using
pretty nice with HOWA Xbow
if you opt for crit -Xbow base crit is 5% - so just like bow builds, you'll need to get a juicy crit roll on the weapon itself, something like 4%+
yeah I had hear dsome people saying that it made more sense to just go for the highest hit damage possible on them and not worry about crit, but I figured I'd check here

you should sort of just have enough accuracy from needing dex for skills - doubt you'll need to do too much

For those of the unga-bunga persuasion I'm happy to say that the alternative approach of building literally zero crit or accuracy and then taking that passive that means you can't be evaded but can't crit feels absolutely amazing

Probably invoker. Gemling needs a few uniques that are not very cheap to feel great. Invoker doesn’t need any unique to start.

hey guys quick question: what is the desired engame build for infernalist: arsonists or snipers? im at maps lv 5+ rn and ive tested both and for now they both perform relatively similar. I think arsonists are slightly better since they scale better with fire damage.

You probably have increased ES mods. Those apply after conversion, so they will increase your ES without EB but not the mana you get with it

That skill gem has nothing to do with whether an attack shocks or not - that skill gem triggers when you kill a shocked enemy with that skill. So as long as the enemy was shocked when they died - you get it

It does appear to work, I just didn't know if like, an enemy dying at the same time it was shocked counts as 'killing a shocked enemy' or 'killing an enemy and shocking their corpse'

They apply after summing weapon local damage with global Added damage, but before conversion right?
So the conclusion from this is that modifiers to different max damage types is always anti-synergistic like for example: Heft "+30% more max Physical damage" and the notable +15% Max Ligthning Damage

Your understanding is correct - not sure if your conclusion is - as that would vary by skill being utilized and other set ups.
So "More max [type] damage" favors builds stacking one damage type even if it all get's converted to one element in the end

Im not telling you take it. But if you had it and were 59% that would be at least understandable. 59% is pretty bad Evasion
As an invoke you also get spirit from evasion on chest and you have a low leveling chest. Time for upgrades across the board

Chest you want BIG Evasion and resistances. Can skip life on chest if you get big enough evasion - its worth it with the way you scale. Rings with Ingenuity should be Life/Resistance/Flat Dmg to attacks/Rarity
Depending on how you are specced - you may want to run an energy shield helmet - there is a node that gives you Evasion based on ES from helm. If you took it - full ES helm

I mean, from purely damage perspective, it's better to have 100% of base damage physical, because now your heft is fully effective, instead of having 50% physical and 50% cold because now Heft only applies to half of your base damage.
Of course there's other reasons to have multiple damage damage types like ailments and the fact that you can't roll +Added damage of same type multiple times on a single item, but this inherent anti-synergy still remains a factor to consider

Are you running Grim Feast? If so - then Hybrid EV/ES isnt bad. You dont want armour at all. Invoker gets a node that applies our Evasion rating to armour
It's a bit weird support because it creates it's own attack too. But it doesn't increase damage at all so kinda lame

Yes Ghost Dance works with CI, as long as you have evasion rating

So once you hit 100% life - the regen would kick in to ES

Are you using Giants Blood? it doesnt update the tooltip of the weapon - so you have to manually calculate teh Str requirements

im looking for one on the market and they all pre much look the same
thats because 2 out of the 4 rolls are static for uncorrupted ones. So by default only the 2 stats change - so obviously higher stats.
If you are going to look for a corrupted one - you want something that increased the Attack speed to 4, or the damage range to 1-12
basically you need to identify what your budget is - and then buy the best version within your budget.

What's the dmg you're looking for on a main skill nowadays in pob? in 1 it was like 1mil but I just put my spark archmage build in that has been very comfy in early maps and I barely have 5k dmg average hit
Flat Dmg is the beginning of the damage calculation - and all modifiers are based on the flat. So in general - flat is preferred. Eventually you have enough flat, where % can be better - but you gotta be pretty decked.

Mana is an intrinsic part of your character. In fact it's viewed as the video game aspect of your character spirit. Something that is literally a part of you.
And you're asking if it can block the damage you take when the intrinsic part of you that is the spirit gets lit on fire.

- Infernal Flame filling is classified as hit
- Block by default works on only strike and projectile hits
- The Wailing Wall is intended to extend blocking to all kinds of hits
- Infernal Flame has a change to get blocked

It does work with blink - you have to turn off other spirit skills for when you swap

Yes... Because on that same chain of logic if you're blinking 10 times per second and it's costing you mana for each of those times. Mana that you will regenerate after you stop blinking for a moment.
It's the equivalent of letting your ethereal form catch up with your physical.
You're still trying to block something that is... It's like you trying to block something that's on a whole other plane of existence.
"Hey shield, if I light myself on fire from the inside out. Can you just hop in there and block that for me?"

why would it be useless? Just get a weapon with an implicit skill on it - or use a shield on your swap - press the implicit skill or raise shield - it auto swaps - you dodge roll, you use main skill and it swaps back

recovering 1000+ or so ES when you are hit(once per 4 second or so but you should not be hit often) is good

so let's say you had 2k max ES and grim feast
so your ES is overflow - to 4k
now you are hit with strong hit for 3k
that remove 3k ES and trigger ghost dance - you are at 2k again and can take anoter hit like that even(you have some life too)

You are an evasion build - you arent built to facetank things. You will need to use your dodge roll - and you will need to kill fast.

Things absolutely WILL get through and hit you - but in T1 maps with your evasion and HP you should not be consistenlyt dying unless you just arent moving - or arent killing.
there's MANY energy shield + evasion passives easy to reach
Ideally you should be combo ES + evasion
for example you have pasives like bestial skin, subterfuge mask

EVA is kinda of questionable use without acro imo
most really dangerous things are AOE
but acro is 70% less so you need good gear to run it

everything else is.. kinda meh or kinda random

in your scenario I would immediately get the ascend that gives spirit based on chest evasion + ES, then get a chest with enough of both (while still maxing out resists) and then run heralds or what have you + grim feast + wind dancer
the build was really good for campaign i strolled through without any issues, soon as I hit endgame im dying constantly

Hey all, quick PoB question (redirect me to build help if this is better suited there). In PoB my DPS calculation is pretty different then my Sheet calculation, even though I have recreated my tree and items 1 to 1, settings are set to pinnacle bosses, with correct values and buffs. My sheet dps (should) be lower then what PoB is telling, but it isn't. Whats up with that? (relatively newish player, wondering whats going on)
thats not how it works rly, 2x 15% less results in higher value than 1x 30% reduced for example, and if maim is only source of reduced its effectively less

That's not how reductions are usually calculated anywhere.
I always assume reductions work like 1 / (1.0 + reduction%)

Though you're right. In PoE2 there's precedent for reduction being flat like that with -%resistances. But "%increased damage taken" doesn't work like that though

Stat changes with + or - (like curses) happen first yeah, then additive changes "increased and reduced" and finally multiplicative (like the 20% less evasion blind grants).
I see no reason why there would be exception to this here.

So I finished my build, sorc spark with 67k dps and 5k ES 5kmana. However I just have 155% rarity.
Since Im running mahuxotl should I consider replacing some mana for rarity (if my math is correct it should give me 65% rarity for each azcapa?) it is 65x% roll

Quick question with PoB. How come when i switch an item (quiver for instance) the one i created the build with gives me my full +skills (7 total so 27) but when i input any other item i drop to +0 so flat 20. Any idea how to fix this ?

If your tooltip DPS increases by 10%, then you probably got 10% more damage.

Which is 70% evasion rating by default

I'm playing Blink on my secondary weapon set (to gain 60 spirit) and decided to add Lingering Illusion with it. My blink has Second wind socketed in it so I can cast it twice quickly. The weird thing is that when I blink twice in a row somehow I 100% of time gain 2 power charges. Something is very bugged here or I don't get something

Running out of flasks in citadel bosses is a problem, yeah pconc
reduced charges used also works on your 3 mana cost of pconc btw
as well as sources of percentage change to not consume a flask
I just changed a bunch of my sheet dps from being attack speed to raw damage so that should help
it's not too hard to get a belt that brings you down to 2 mana charges per flask throw
which obviously is a big deal...
I found a great unique belt today that i would love to use for flask charges but I bought ingenuity the other day
I was using a flask with 120 charges and alchemist for 0.27 regen, going to now try a 0.25 regen flask with the 0.27 from boon, and 30% more charges gained from a couple jewels
Regular flask with 0.25 regen has around 50 less charges, so about 17 less flasks ready at start of a fight. Takes a minute or two to catch up to the increased charges flask

All you can do is get higher rolls on everything. More ES and More mana in every slot
helm can get 200 more ES
i feel like every time i check the trade site everything is similar or worse to what i have. and even a modest increase is like a 20 div cost lol

it's a really fun build - not super ultra one shot meta but as a reference, i beat +3 Xesht pretty easily yesterday
Most bosses while mapping get rinsed in a few seconds
Lightning warp is the core of the build along with eye of winter and comet for bossing. Without call of the brotherhood, lightning warp doesnt contribute to cast on freeze.
I thought about ingenuity, yeah. my belt has some key resistances though so that'll require big changes to the other pieces

You can bring resistances negative. Exposure and Curses can. Penetration can not - and penetration is last in the calculation - so if the monster is negative after curse & exposure, all penetration is wasted

Can anyone explain why the jewel giving 15% projectile damage is showing a much bigger increase in damage than the 16% projectile node

Quarterstave damage evasion and increased flask charges gained
The estimated calculation is almost certainly thinking the attack speed will apply
I guess that's gotta be it, 2% is rather low though. I'm assuming it isn't calculating extra flask charges gained in a 1 minute period of time 🤣
I also replaced a 13% quiver gem that has 11% increased damaging ailment duration, with 9% increased projectile damage. Only went up 1000 damage from that

So apparently they are calculating the 11% extra duration from damaging ailments into poison concoction or the 9% projectile damage would've added 5-10k damage not 1k
From what i recall before, increased poison durations from passives didn't calc into any of my skills
does POB show how much effect of Magnitude of Shock i have somewhere?
it does not
its a massive part of my damage id think, so thats kind of weird
