'gained as' extra' works the same as conversion, just without removing the part it converts. Only the final damage type of the hit is considered for increases, so if you were gaining extra Fire damage, you'd need to scale Fire (or generic damage increases) to raise it.

My silly question(s) are: What should be my benchmark time per act (2 hours? 3 hours?), and are there any tips for running mercenary quickly through campaign?
We chose mercenary because neither one of us have played it yet in POE2. I've played Warrior up to LVL 80, and fiddled with various characters in HC dying repeatedly between Ranger and Sorc almost exclusively (and like, 30 minutes with Witch).
Instinct is to run High Velocity and Grenade for single clear and mob clear, with bleed and poison. My brother plays tons more POE1 in particular than me (I maybe have 20 hours in POE1, long ago), and has eclipsed me by 300 hours in POE2. I'd love to be as competitive as possible with him and give him a good run.
I've been messing with POB to try and theorycraft over the last few days, but I have very little experience no experience even trying to make a real build so it's hard to know where to start.

find an endgame currency making guide and follow it, as you do it more you'll start to be able to guage what you enjoy and other ways to make currency.
POE2 is definitely more weird to get into the endgame currency cycle than poe1, but just follow a guide and you'll get used to it

im just surprised they nerfed every single aspect of lightning sorc, and by so much
Electorcute now builds up roughly 44% slower on non-players, so its now almost only half has good. That doesnt include how much less lightning damage everyone is doing, so it makes electrocute very rare
Stormweaver needed nerfed, no doubt about it, but it feels like overykill they nerfed Stormweaver's +Arcane Surge per 15 mana node, Arc, Archmage Support, Eldritch Battery, Mana values on gear, and Electrocute all at once and all by a pretty drastic amount
they coulda just hit Archmage's damage and the Arcane surge node and call it a day imo

I discovered this right after POE2 launched so I had a lot of time to get a jewel like that above.
Nobody knew how strong that From Nothing was, so it was basically free on market. Imagine just having that jewel, gives you 5 notables for 5 points inside that against the darkness. Then you invest 1 point in minion damage for 2 more notables
Then you invest 4 more points in the Cold damage for another 4 notables
Btw, that From nothing gave a lot more than 5 notables inside the Against the darkness. Such as Lightning quick, Living death if you were a minionmancer, Dark Entries was crit resistance
And the last point was Stormbreaker which is such a ceap skill to get in a 2-3 line Megalomaniac that it was just.. free
that's the recipe for 60% dex 48% int 😄

Because the jewel was not too good, it could be more, but imagine 144 spirit, without even counting items

I'm like 90% through act 3 and have gotten 0 drops. Like 0 level 2 support gems, 0 currency, 0 usable rares so I just have horrible equipment and not the best support gems. It depends on the waystone. The more modifiers you have on it, the fewer respawn attempts you have. However, you can go in and out of a map without any limits, the portals only represent remaining attempts.

They're in the middle of any corrupted zone on the atlas, so if you see any corrupted zones around you, just delve into them and you should find the nexus before too long.
