It's less Elden Ring, more Diablo. If you're getting crushed you can in some cases just dodge better but more often than not it means you need to improve your build.

Someone told me my cold resistance wasn't enough. To be honest he was fairly straightforward after that.

I was getting caught by his frozen laser beam attack, as soon as one would hit me I'd be locked into place and couldn't avoid the 2nd one and then would take that and the same from third one so I was stunlocked essentially so it seemed unfair and one mistake would kill me.

But as soon as I found cold res ring it was do-able. I need to make note of that in future fights, if the boss is shooting a certain element, to check resistances for that

Yup, making sure you're resistances are where they need to be does the job. When you start getting into end game make sure you're resist capped.

You have to use the desert map to move the caravan to the closer diamon point then it appears as a gate next to the table

Looks like you're already at the diamon point, so just look for an exit from the caravan

I see that you can use Ctrl to set more skills but I dont see where you add those skills into the panel. How would I go about doing this, can I do this?

You have a total of 9 skill slots - barring any items or ascendancy passives that give you more - so the extra bar that you can view with Ctrl is just there to give you more options on how to bind your skills, and to fit in stuff granted by items, such as implicit Spells on Staves and Wands, or Raise Shield on Shields.

there's only one line that adds to your damage which is the +level, but finding a better one could be hard around this level, look for +levels, spell damage, lightning damage... and check tooltip dps for comparison

also are you using flame wall?

That weapon isn't great. Make sure you have decent support gems on your skills also and you're using them effectively. For example, firing spark through firewalls for more damage.

Also, don't ignore blue items if they have mods you need.

Read currencies. They do different things. Basically you should only be using transmute and augment orbs.

well if you have a rare, and it's pretty good, but it only has 4 mods on it, you could use exalts to try and add more mods on top of it

That early it shouldn't be necessary at all. The game gives you tools to improve your gear. Salvaging, disenchanting, vendors, crafting currencies, raw drops. The rest is up to you to not make a bad build.

you cannot "craft" it, people gamble for it by using a chance orb on a stellar amulet. It's a veryyy low chance from what I see, I don't think we know any numbers.

If you want to get more than one of a specific premium tab, you would need to buy more. However, you keep any MTX - including stash tabs - across leagues, so for most premium tabs, having one will generally be enough.

I'll defer to those who have more experience with endgame than I do, but I would definitely recommend the Currency Stash Tab. All of the basic currency orbs fit in there, and you can also use the free slots below to store up to 5,000 of any stackable item like Runes, Catalysts and other items.

gems is really nice in poe2, quad is just amazing in general, deli can be useful later if you do a lot of deli mirrors/simu, but probably not as good as the rest

It's not a bug, it's just that item labels disappear after a short duration by default. There's an action you can bind on controller - it should be bound by default, but I've forgotten the exact binding - that will essentially toggle the 'Always Highlight' setting, making it so that labels don't disappear.

My first question is really how many points do I need to invest in base stats vs. say increased projectile damage or other ability boost?

A rough comparison with D4 is skill gems are skills and skill gem levels are skill points into that skill. Passive tree is paragon and you get it starting from level 1. For "martial weapons" like xbow, flat damage is more noticeable in acts compared to scaling as the base damage isn't that high (think if affix ranges depending on item level in D4). The noticeable scaling is usually levels to skills.

it depends on what the text in your skill says but in this case for xbow you need to scale attack damage and dex doesnt really do anything for damage. It gives you accuracy which could be argued, helps and there are some uniques, passive nodes that scale damage per attribute so its hard to compare. But projectile damage should mostly win early in acts. You can get a rough idea if you look at your DPS tooltip for that skill.

They have everything done and ready, all they need to is pull their heads from the deepest ivory tower they live in and do the minimal amount of work to make it happen.

Not sure if this is still on topic for new player help, but they've talked about how PoE1 couldn't have a system like that due to gold being absent.
They want trade to have some form of friction - more detail available in their trade manifesto from a while back - and the PC version had it be easy to find an item, but hard to purchase, and the console version had it be hard to find, but easy to purchase. With gold, they could allow stuff to be easy to find and trade, at the cost of requiring you to spend a currency that represents time spent playing, basically, but currently that's only present with the Currency Exchange.

Gear Question: I've upgraded my chest armor several times and it's now rare with some quality and all the affixes it can have (might not be great statistically but you get the point). How the hell am I supposed to accurately compare it to new gear pick ups?? If I grab a regular item with tons of say armor who's to say it won't beat my equipped armor at some point if I apply the same items to upgrade it to a rare with quality and max affixes, etc.

Generally items aren't worth taking from white to rare. Life and resists. Always be increasing them. Don't bother regaling an item unless it has two good mods on it already. Blue items can be very good. Two good mods is better than 5-6 bad ones.

At most, transmute and augment a white item if it's a better base than what you're wearing. Check vendors for better items. But don't throw exalts or god forbid more valuable currency at low level trash items.

the importance is, at some point you NEED to understand [what your build needs] & [what modifier the type of item can roll]
life and resists are the most basic everyone needs so that for a start
then you might be looking for things like spirit on armor, if you want to reserve more skill but don't want to use a scepter
then depending on what other shenanigans you trying to fit into your build, maybe stacking armor, etc - then it get more complex and harder to get perfect modifier combo

We don't know what it will be for POE2. In POE1 it's completing the atlas, completing all 115-ish endgame maps. Which if you're a decent player is no problem during a 3 month league. Completing your atlas is seen as something experienced players do just to get their endgame grind started.

I would generally recommend other skills even if you would like to avoid everything exploding in an instant. Default Attack in PoE2 isn't terrible by any means, but you can find better skills for any specific purpose. As long as you don't stack up too much attack speed, AoE or damage, the game will still remain relatively readable (I tend to only play self-made builds, and it's rare for things to get too overwhelming for me).

Do you have a total of 24 weapon set points in your passive skill tree? If not, then check the Crowbell, Una's Lute, Kabala, the Final Letter, Mighty Silverfist, and the act 3 heart sacrifice in both Normal and Cruel. Outside of the heart one, you should be able to check them all on the world map.

it's actually harder in the "normal" act since your basically have no resources, havent yet unlocked some skills, etc
so have to squeeze out everything you can and learn boss move

• understand what the enemy damage is and ensure you have the correct resist type
• find better skill/gem combination specifically for bossing; trash mob clearning and bossing require different things (aoe vs single target)
• quality your weapon if you play attack build, socket your gear in order to slot runes especially for resist
