Imo, if you feel the need to farm for gear to progress during the campaign then that's a symptom of a much larger problem. You haven't been diligent about constantly seeking upgrades to your gear. You're failing to check vendors, craft items, gamble, and/or just keep an eye out for items that could be upgrades.

that's for things like corrupting cry (a warcry that does damage on its own)

That makes the warcry itself do more damage. If it says increases empowered attack damage then it will help the following attack(s)

Seismic cry does flat damage itself and yeah, it scales corrupting cry

if you're doing a slam build or something the notable to the left of that is far better, doubles the amount of empowered attacks, really good.

Like make people able to remove runes (or delete runes) and make socket currency more common to function as a way to slap resists onto something.

Plus every league in poe1 usually came with some crafting stuff so id bet once the game releases and leagues start happening they would probably innevitably add more crafting options

These indicate whether things should work. Its not always guaranteed that they will work, often if something doesn't work it will say in the description.
But if a gem doesn't have a tag then chances are it wont interact with supports that use those tags

It doesn't give attack range, but technically all melee strikes in this game have a little aoe afaik so a zombie slap for example is more likely to hit more targets (not that it's terribly useful, lol.) So it does what you hope it does and makes their gas arrow etc bigger
