Well it affects skills. But with the way skills convert physical damage to elements I think you sometimes want certain stats over others.

but well if you really want to drop a couple exalted orbs to resolve that, I used this filter for once i hit maps.
Adjust the resist/life and level req and item type in the filters to work for your pricepoint. Not worth spending too much in acts cause you are going to outgrow that gear quickly anyway.

It lookos for a ccombination of resists that add up to the weighted sum. You can also add an armour or evasion requirement in the equipment filters but that bumps up the price often.

For weapon, you want pure physical damage and increased ele damage with attacks

the tier system is really strong. Higher the tier, the better the stats on it will be on avg. The tiered gear has the lower end of the values of modifiers on the item removed. So the minimum the item can roll is much higher
