That's valid. Some people get a lot of enjoyment from creating a whacky build and even just having it be able to clear the campaign. Some people wanna get a build already made and pilot it to success. Some people like both.

It's like net decking vs making whacky decks in magic. They can both be fun depending on the person and what they want out of the game.

Comparing your items to ones already listed and hoping that the first cheap ones arent there to bait people into listing theirs for too cheap.
Eventually we will likely get back extensions that make checking these things easier, but you will still get that to some degree even with those.
Its just incredibly hard to price items correctly, since you wont be mindfull of all the possible usecases etc.

In that case you can just hope that at some point one of the persons you message isnt spammed instantly and you get it for cheaper than it should go for.
Or you increase the price you are looking for until its the sweetspot where its the "right" price.

i also dont run comet, i have coldsnap and the energy bonus and mana reduction in cast on freeze. also run AA, icewall, flame wall, frost orb, frost bomb, frost nova, hypothermia and my main weapon has sigil of power, which gives insane boost if I just waste my mana on hypothermia 6 times then mana flask and blast the boss ❤️
comet is better for bosses, but for all other content cold snap in cast on freeze seems better to me

you probably want to lean into either armour or evasion or neither as a witch. Her area of the skill tree doesn't have much of any defensive things besides Energy shield.
If you lean left on the tree then you might be able to pick up armour. If you lean right you might be able to pick up evasion

you should be going for a specific type of gear, probably armor/es or evasion/es for all your gear rather than mixing and matching, otherwise you lose the effectiveness of the armour or evasion because you aren't getting enough

there are good implicits you can get. for gems, if you corrupt a max level gem with max quality, (assuming they kept it the same as poe1) you can get a boost to either the level or the quality of the gem. and I've heard that corruption can also give a gem an extra socket, tho I assume that's only up to the max of 5
