When you allocate passive points, you can choose to assign them specifically to weapon set 1 or 2. That means they will only apply to that weapon set. So, you can put 3 points into fire damage passives for your fire weapon in slot 1, and the same 3 points into ice damage passives for your ice weapon in slot 2. When you swap weapons, your weapon set passives also get swapped.

yes. I have a unique at level 11 and its worse than rare at level 33. But that aside, your weapons need to have seriously good mods. by act3, i had a staff that gave me +3 on all spells. And i got +1 for cold spells. So +4 for my cold sorc

I'm in Act 1 with a Ranger. I am playing with a controller, and I have to ask... is this class not viable with a controller? I am so dependent on Lightning Rod, but if enemies are too mobile, I am barely able to use the rods on the ground, and my DPS falls apart. It seems like I often should not be firing Lightning Rod directly onto an enemy, but where I want to kite the enemy towards (like perhaps, my current position), but this isn't possible on controller. Do I need to play a different class?

If you're playing a lightning build and you get +70% increased lightning, that's yay. More lightning. If you're playing lightning build and you get "Gain 15% of damage as fire" you also now have a source of fire damage from your lightning spells.

Right now this feels like Monster Hunter, where a lot of important effects are never explained and are presented as some kind of picture.

Pictographic alphabets like Kanji are dumb for a reason, they only confuse people, so is there some way like holding ALT on an item that will give me more information.

Now this might be a very silly and noob question, but when it comes to weapons and in my case a quarterstaff (I play monk), how would I determ to figure out if it's an upgrade or not? So far I have been looking at the top part of my current weapon, as shown in the picture, on the physical damage part where it says 46-96. Am I correct in thinking that the top part is the part that counted every prefix/suffix and is like a total of phys dmg from this weapon?

On top of that I open up my skills page and see if the number of my main skill goes higher or lower. Am I doing this correctly or totally wrong? Really wondering, thanks!

If you're not sure, don't worry because it's not super impactful anyway. You can always choose none of them now and save it for when you find yourself saying, "Damn, that fight sucked. If only I had more stun threshold/ailment threshold/mana regen"

Bro this is not what I meant, I think the icons I'm looking for are perhaps class abilities, I will show you a screenshot.

In this screenshot I have after quite a bit of experimenting figured out that from left to right I'm seeing the following:

Frozt buildup: When it's full the enemy will get frozen
Gas granade: They are standing in a gas granade and taking damage
Fully broken armor effect: Susseptible to the extra damage from high velocity rounds.

Now is there no way to mouse over these and get some better info?

And if not, is it at least filtered to only display my effects or will there be a cluster-feck of stuff on here in group play?

Regardless, you can play any character, they are all badically the same speeds in campaign. Some will accellerate at different parts than others depdnding on how you build them but you arent going to be hours ahead on 1 compared to the other.

That lightning res will get you killed quick. Resists are maybe the single most important defensive stat to have on gear. I put sockets on gear and use runes just for the resists.

I've heard they do sales on stash tabs quite regularly. But yes that is still a fair point. Maybe get the bundle that has four premium stash tabs instead of just getting a single one. I don't think there's any reason to get more than one currency tab though since I believe there's no limit to how much of each currency you can put in it (I believe the stack size is unlimited for currencies in there).

No reason besides wanting to do it without going back to town. Also, when you finish act3 and get sent back to act1, you'll be without a hooded one in your camp for a bit until you progress to unlocking him again. You can still use a waypoint to go to a previous act's camp to access him, but that's kind of annoying.
