I personally think, the first suggestion about hard limiting the cps may be implemented first, followed by the second suggestion about lifting today's ban on drag and double clicks.

I wouldn't label it as a terrible update. I'd say it's at least a temporary fix to the issue of stopping people using macro and abnormally high cps.
