Cubecraft converting all ranks to 30-day subscriptions has frustrated many players. For good reason too. Cubecraft previously allowed the paying customer to keep the rank permanently. Now the customer has to pay a monthly fee to keep perks.
This change will affect the game’s economy and community. Core gameplay features like voting and map selection should either be complimentary with the rank purchase or free. Paying to access them causes the game to adopt a pay-to-win approach, which is not fair to players.
PGS rank is also problematic. It should be a separate optional subscription as it was only given to partnered individuals. It was not designed to be granted to everyone.
It is logical for beta games or new content that needs funding to fix bugs and add content to use subscriptions. For established or popular game modes like BedWars, optional subscriptions for extras would be better received.
Cubecraft should be listening to the community and either bring back the permanently accessible ranks or offer a mix between permanent and subscription options. This would allow players to pick what best suits them.
