#Make Duels Fairer — Remove Kit Selecting (Pay-to-Win Concern)

In Battle Arena Duels (1v1/2v2), ranked players currently have the ability to select kits, which gives them a significant and consistent advantage over unranked players who are forced into random kits.

This creates an unfair PvP environment where players who pay for a rank can master a specific kit, while others are constantly adapting — making what should be a skill-based mode feel pay-to-win.

🧩 Why This Is a Problem:

Competitive modes should be based on player skill, not kit familiarity through paid perks.

Many players lose motivation to play Duels knowing they are at a systemic disadvantage.

It hurts long-term game balance and player trust, especially for new or F2P players.

🎯 Suggested Fixes:

Remove kit selecting from Duels entirely, or…

Make it unlockable via playtime, win streaks, or in-game achievements — giving all players a path to earn the option.

This would help maintain fairness, encourage more participation, and keep Duels truly competitive.

Thanks for considering this!

what if i paid for it and i rightfully get to choose the kit i wanna play

#

post like these dont make it far because people who already own the rank will never agree with you, while people who dont own the rank will support you

#

while i can agree with you on the slight advantage it can give, if someone is good enough the kit will never be the problem

There are ways you can get ranks without playing (such as rewards on console or giveaways) and really if you're good enough you can still beat players who choose kits, this was never a problem in the first place

You can get ranks for free rather easily, also I don't think Minecraft players are always below 13 🙏

btw that's the only p2w in my opinion I have vip level 15 and 6 ranks bought and tested everything and that's buying skill if you like duels

Hear me out on this One, most of the duels players wont even feel the difference because they are not good enough

I have played thousands of duels and 99% of the time my opponent couldnt understand what he was doing, i dont think the kit Will make a difference

for example I don't have the ranks

To clarify, the suggestion isn’t about taking anything away from people who paid for ranks. It’s about making Duels more competitive and skill-focused for everyone, not just ranked players. The ability to choose a kit absolutely matters in 1v1 PvP — especially when you’re practicing and refining one setup over and over, while unranked players have to constantly adapt.
Yes, skill is the biggest factor, and yes, a great player can win with any kit. But let's be real — if you're practicing only Sumo or OP for months because you have access to kit selection, you're naturally going to outperform someone thrown into something random each time. That adds a layer of inconsistency that has nothing to do with actual skill.
“You can get ranks in giveaways” — True, but that's not a reliable or scalable method for most people, especially younger or casual players.
“If you’re good, kits don’t matter” — Then let’s level the field so the mode tests pure skill, not familiarity advantage.
I’m not calling for rank perks to be deleted — just asking to rethink how they affect competitive modes. Casual FFA or SkyWars? Go wild with perks. But ranked/competitive? It should be about skill expression, not what perks you paid for.
Even something like unlocking kit selection through playtime or win streaks could bridge the gap — making it earned rather than purely bought. That way, everyone has a path and no one feels boxed out.
At the end of the day, it’s not about taking sides. It’s about making a game mode more fair, engaging, and competitive for all players — regardless of how much they spend.

Also being able to not play the trash kits like fisherman and bow Is a pretty good thing

I already said i agree on the slight advantage It can give but at the end of the day its the Better player who Always wins

I mean people buy because It makes the experience Better, not because of the advantage. Everyone has a favourite kit and a kit they hate, so they buy the rank to play the kit they like

I for example since like 2020 wanted to get the best Cubecraft bedrock pvp player what I suppose to do to get the best if not buy Battle Arena Rank and for example practice complex kits and then others till will practice every and cook like xoion did to LionHeart4D, also I thought that xoion didn't had rank in past but that was his alt acount and now on his new acount "Soykco" I saw that his profile has cosmetics = donated

You’re not wrong that changing this would make the feature available without payment — but that doesn’t automatically mean it’s “taking something away.”
What’s being suggested isn’t removing kit selection — it’s shifting it from pay-only to something you can also earn through gameplay. Donators would still keep the instant access, plus all the other rank perks (cosmetics, map voting, XP boosts, etc). That’s fair monetization. What’s not fair is giving a direct gameplay advantage in a competitive mode exclusively to those who pay.
Also, comparing this to equipment-based P2W doesn’t work here. This isn’t Factions or Survival where gear can be bought — this is Duels, where the only variables are skill, map, and kit. When one player can grind a single kit over and over, and the other gets random kits each time — the match stops being about pure PvP skill.
If kit selection “isn’t that big of an advantage,” then what’s the harm in making it earnable?
If it is a big advantage, then it’s clearly a P2W feature in a skill-based mode.
Either way, my point stands.

those are okay but would be not okay likely in CS

Also the harm is that players might only want to play one kit (because they don't like the other kits). " but that doesn’t automatically mean it’s “taking something away.” - Is the same as saying that giving obi rank perms isn't taking away from obi rank. And I as a person who bought battle arena think that map voting for 1v1 is the best perk. So what if other players think the same and only buy the rank for the map voting on 1v1. Just to find out that they could have unlocked for free

Drag clicking is legal (aslong as it is used without tape (don't question it))

sonic grail

#

i know

#

but if the rank exist in java or bedrock dosen't change the principle

#

I just picked obi cause it was the first thing I could think of

sonic grail
lucid flare
#

yes but drag click is allowed

#

you just can't put tape on it but some have a tape like surface on the button and that is allowed

sonic grail
#

You're kind of mixing two different things here.
Drag clicking or having a good mouse is part of real-world variability — like having better Wi-Fi or a higher refresh rate screen. It’s not ideal, but it’s not something a game server can fully control unless they ban high CPS or enforce hardware limits. Some games (like CS or Valorant) do try to equalize it more. Minecraft just doesn't.

But when a server intentionally locks a competitive feature like kit selection behind a paywall, that’s a design choice. It’s not just "reality" — it’s engineered imbalance.
Big difference.

“But if players bought it for kit or map voting, and others get it later for free, it’s taking something away.”

That only holds if the rank loses value entirely — but I’m not asking to delete perks. I'm saying give others a grind-based way to earn them too. Ranks would still offer:

Instant unlock (skip the grind)

Cosmetics, particles, tags

FFA perks

Lobby effects

That’s still plenty of value.
And by your logic, we should never make anything earnable because someone might have paid for it first. That’s like saying XP boosts shouldn’t be unlockable because someone bought a rank for them. It’s flawed.

If a player only wants the rank for map voting — fair. Then give map voting an in-game unlock path after heavy grinding. Ranked players will always get it faster and easier.

This isn’t about devaluing ranks.
It’s about keeping competitive gameplay fair — and giving players who can’t donate a legit way to climb.

That’s not anti-donation — that’s pro-skill.

A: The irl things help you in my opinion even more than the maps selection (and that is also why some people say to ban drag). B: Imagine I, a rank owner find out that I would have needed 100 kills to get the perk wich I had before I bought the rank. Now imagine I only bought the rank for 1v1 map voting. That would have meant that I would have wasted 10$. If you take paywalled features and make them unlockable it is always going to take away from the rank. It is going to take away from the people who already spent the money. Some may not care but some do.
