Maps cannot be broken by players and currently defenses can be single handedly bypassed by players who've prepared with discounts, elytras and leap feathers, to have a balance of defensive playstyles and offensive playstyles mix together maps which promote them.
Instead of having the egg out in the open make it so it's confined within a room which can be sealed with blocks or at least surround it with walls like putting it in a pit which can be buried, this makes it more difficult for rushers and long-game survivors to break the egg, it's too easy to bypass defenses and promotes fast repetitive gameplay.
We can take this idea of confinement a step further and confine the entire map, replacing the void with pits of fire or keeping the void but giving a visual height restriction, imagine battling in a giant cave with massive stalagtites hanging from the ceiling acting as the islands, all over a pit of lava.
