It really varies depending on who you ask honestly. I started off with the Java client and I honestly think I'll always have a bias towards it, but Bedrock when it comes to performance and speed is much better

Plus as a dev I really like the expandability and customization of the Java client, but Bedrock there is more freedom serverside which I also like

like the custom npcs and text we have on the bedrock network over the portal couldn't be done in java

java is what im more used to because i started with it and grew up with it, however bedrock has a hugely less toxic community and is more casual which i like

for me personally, if i just wanted a casual few games of skywars or something id play bedrock any day

and casual playing is what i do a lot of the time

casual playing on java is not easy most of the time due to the immense amount of tryhards and toxic ppl
