  • Obdurodon is just a giant platypus
  • Dinopithecus is just a giant baboon

  • Paleocastor is basically a subterranean beaver

Here's what I'd say that I'd want in the game before it leaves Early Access (and yes, this is just my two cents):

Mammals:
1 Additional Starter Mammal - should be small and/or drab, like a camel or a horse. North American Horse, Camelops, or Metridiochoerus are all examples I'd use.
1 Pleistocene Australian Critter - Diprotodon, Procoptodon, or Thylacosmilus
1 African Mammal - can fit into the starter category, but my other suggestions would by Enhydriodon or Sivatherium
1 Basal mammal - something like Eohippus, Pachyaena, or Mesonx

Non-Dinosaurian Reptiles:
1 Crocodilian of any sort - already covered sincethe devs have implied that Deinosuchus is on its way

Dinosaurs (excluding birds)
Crylophosaurus - to finally have an animal from Antarctica
1 Megaraptorid
1 Abelisaur

Birds
1 Phorusrhacid - already covered
1 Herbivorous bird - in light of the Moa being planned DLC, either Gastornis or Aepyornis

Others
1 Large Paleozoic animal - please. I take Mau's determination to lie about Diictodon and Diplocaulus both coming in the most recent update as proof that we could get one before EA ends.
1 Avialian for Mini-Exhibits
1 Arthropod Viviarium Animal
1 Vivarium Primate

I would say we got like

3 mammals left in EA at a minimum

possibly 4

the most I can realistically see is 4

with those being Leptictidium, Megatherium, Doedicurus, and Ambulocetus

flint sable

we can pretty confidentally say that Mekosuchus was pretty terrestrial tho IMO

#

at the very least the later pacific island species

#

just due to their nature and location

not a lot of large bodies of water in say, New Caledonia or Fiji that could house a semiaquatic reptile, so being more terrestrial makes sense

And I'd like to understand why the first responses are always discrediting, attacking, and blindly accusing AI. Have you ever tried creating a Raptor with any AI tool? It comes out a piece of shit. It can't even generate the Dromeosaurid sickle claw after 50 attempts. It's the most poorly done JP style. I tried to share ideas for the appearance of the Utahraptor's coat and colors, etc., since this isn't a contest. I didn't put myself forward as an artist competing for the next official design. I just wanted to give a visual cue for skin patterns I tried to apply to animals I'd like to see in the game. 😉👍

I don't think I completely agree. It would certainly have been simple and correct on the feet and without any traces of the skeleton, but regarding the feathers and the rest, it doesn't come out very well. I'll redo it in pencil, hoping to manage to make the plumage not a mess. And to arouse less revulsion by mixing the edits I did with render ai.

#

about utahraptor names, i find this about :the specific epithet ostrommaysi was used for naming the species in honor of two different persons, but in subsequent years the spelling ostrommaysorum was often used without comment or explanation. In this paper, we review the historical uses of the specific epithet of Utahraptor and make clarifications on the status of six different subsequent spellings. The International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (1999) does not offer any provision for forming a genitive form from two persons having different names, so the original spelling ostrommaysi has to be regarded as an arbitrary combination of letters, and not a correctly formed genitive form. For this reason, it is deemed to be preserved unaltered and is not subject to a justified emendation; consequently, the subsequent spelling ostrommaysorum is erroneous and represents an unjustified emendation and shown not to be in prevailing usage. Therefore, the name to be used for the taxon is Utahraptor ostrommaysi, as originally introduced

#

I have composed a list of a bunch of animals that I feel would all be great editions to the game.

Numerous pterosaur species:

Quetzalcoatlus northropi
Pterodactylus antiquus
Pteranodon sternbergi
Pteranodon longiceps
Hatzegopteryx thambema
Dimorphodon macronyx
Tapejara wellnhoferi
Rhamphorhynchus muensteri
Nyctosaurus gracilis

I would love to see aviaries eventually in the game for these species, mabey the small ones could be implemented into terrariums or walk through cages.

Numerous aquatic species:

Mosasaurus hoffmannii
Tylosaurus proriger
Otodus Megalodon
Ichthyotitan severnensis
Plesiosaurus dolichodeirus
Dunkleosteus terrelli
Dunkleosteus tuderensis
Pliosaurus brachydeirus
Liopleurodon ferox
Axelrodichthys araripensis (Coelacanth)
Xiphactinus audax

I would love to see lagoons or some sort of giant aquarium feature for these animals, maybe since we have the vivariums now, it might be possible to add aquariums for some of the smaller species like Coelacanth or the Dunkleosteus.

I would also love to see some additions to the dinosaurs in the game:

Kentrosaurus aethiopicus
Therizinosaurus cheloniformis
Utahraptor ostrommaysi
Deinonychus antirrhopus

I also think that some big crocodilians or crocodylomorphs would fit the game very well.

Purussaurus brasiliensis
Deinosuchus riograndensis
Sarcosuchus imperator
Gryposuchus croizati
kaprosuchus saharicus

This concludes my master list of wanted species.

IMPORTANT: Yes, I would absolutely love to see all of these species implemented one day but I also know just how much time and money that would require. This game is very much on the right track however and I absolutely cannot wait to see the immense amount of progress in another three years' time. I've seen several people comparing this game to JWE3 and I just wanted to state that that franchise has had way more time to develop. I absolutely love all of the hard work the developers have put in so far and I am so excited for the future of this game!

# tulip umbra I thought this was a Species Suggestion channel…

I thought so too, and since I've already asked previously about deinonychus, and utahraptor, having an affirmative answer for utahraptor, I made a suggestion for the color pattern of possible Dromeosaurid species, I didn't think it was a contest or a reason to talk about the ai, I agree that for a decent talent Paleoartistic image you can find 8000 shits made with 7-fingered ai and completely nonsense, I tried to create an idea, but doing it by hand I can make a good anatomical (that every one already knows how a utahraptor is made, but what colors and plumage can have? that's was my point ) drawing the plumage is not easy for me.

Ppl tend to overreact nowadays cuz of the state of the world ai has created rn, if u wanna use ai to represent an idea cuz u dont have the skills to do it urself thats fine.

Anyways heres a species suggestion: Titanosarcolites, a weird looking bivalve from the cretaceous. If we ever get aquatics, I hope we see some animals like these and crinoids for decorations. They serve the same purpose as paleoflora.

# reef thorn I have composed a list of a bunch of animals that I feel would all be great edit...

So I apologize but I ran out of characters and I wanted to really express the last part of my message. I have seen some replies about the lack of mammals and I do agree that the addition of some more mammals would be amazing. Some that I would love to see include:

Deinotherium giganteum
Platybelodon danovi
Procoptodon goliah
Glyptodon clavipes
Doedicurus clavicaudatus
Megatherium americanum
Gigantopithecus blacki
Phorusrhacos longissimus
Arctodus simus
Chalicotherium goldfussi
Thylacoleo carnifex
Phiomia serridens

Some other species that aren't mammals could also be great additions. I would love to see some non-mammalian synapsids such as:

Inostrancevia latifrons
Gorgonops torvus
Edaphosaurus pogonias
Dimetrodon limbatus

If you feel that I have left anything out, please let me know.

Nothing wrong with a little love for our tiny elephants. I mean, it is technically an elephantiform but oh well. huh, I thought that latifrons was bigger but it may just be down to individual variation within the same species. If they are the same, then it makes sense that alexandri would take priority given that it is far more complete. I do know that the initial descriptions by Pravoslavlev (1927) are why we figured that they were two different species but it is very possible that the original research is now outdated.

We should get Albertosaurus with a Gorgosaurus alt.

It should have 3 skins with 2 going to Albertosaurus (one with feature scales and no feathers, one with feature scales AND feathers like Rex has brumal). 1 skin should go to Gorgosaurus (smooth/classic look, no feature scales or feathers).

In terms of how behaviour can be differentiated Gorgosaurus should be solitary, Albertosaurus should be quite social and a large theropod pack hunter.

Albertosaurus would be excellent for providing a predator for the Horseshoe canyon formation (Albertosaurus/E.regalis/P/canadiensis) and Gorgosaurus would provide one for dinosaur park (Gorgosaurus/Styracosaurus/Lambeosaurus/Parasauralophus).

I think both of these guys should be a 3⭐️ equivalent, this game doesn’t use a star system anymore, but should have the equivalent popularity. Both species have fans, but certainly aren’t as popular as animals like Baryonyx/Carnotaurus etc, they would make a great moderate-appeal addition.

#

I forgot to add: Tyrannosaurus is from the Maastrichtian, Yutyrannus and Guanlong were both cut previously and from far earlier. But both Albertosaurus and Gorgosaurus give great Campanian rep for the theropods.

Asterotrygon is an extinct genus of stingray from the Eocene Green River Formation in Wyoming. Several complete skeletons representing juveniles, adults, males and females have been uncovered from the late early Eocene Fossil Butte Member of the formation. The type and only species, A. maloneyi, was named in 2004 on the basis of these fossils. A...

# tulip umbra Are there any theropods missing? Should any be removed? Open to suggestions

I'll be blunt, my gut instinct would be to tell you to remove quite a few animals because they don't add much. But to be more strict about this:

  • Deltadromeus shape is a complete mystery to us; don't include it.
-You're missing Falcarius, Saurornithoides, and Afrovenator.
-If you're going to include Hesperornis, you need to include Ichthyornis, Confuciusornis, and Anchiornis. Especially the first one because it's perfect for the semi-aquatic vivarium being something of a sea bird
-Hesperornis honestly shouldn't be there; it's a rather big animal (at over 6 ft in height) that needs a full habitat aquarium to work
-Patagopetryx is the size of a chicken, it's a vivarium animal
-Think what animals work as alts to others and combine them. Once you do that, then come back with this. Some of your groups I think have too many animals.

Duonychus aswell

Good fossil representation (Sinornithomimus)
Name popularity (Therizino)
Uniqueness (Balaur)
Or a strong enough combination of the three
Also personal preference ofc also plays some role

For the Permian, I would recommend some alts for Edaphosaurus (there's quite a few species), Titanophoneus (alt of Anteosaurus), Estemmenosuchus mirabilis (the larger of the two but keep both), and consider Glanosuchus macrops, Tiarajudens eccentricus, Jonkeria truculenta, and Deuterosaurus biarmicus. Consider Loxomma and Neopteroplax if you want more large Carboniferous animals alongside Eryops and Anthracosaurus. Also Thrixanodon and L. murrayi are Triassic.
