I feel like we do not discuss combat enough, i know it might be a long way before it is perfected but i do have some things i would like to point out:
-
There should be "non-lethal" fights, for dominance, territory, mating rights, etc.
-
Animals could use their environment and each other to gain the upper hand:
A- while defending their nest/young B- while defending themselves while alone and C- if they cannot win, they should flee -
Sauropods i feel would not really fight smaller animals, they could however charge at them. This would tire the Sauropods out and leave them open for attack.
-
Witch brings us to protecting sick, young and tired pack mates. Herbivores while fleeing could have the healthy and strong ones on the outside and the weak and young in the middle (females as well for some species).
-
One of the biggest motivators for fighting is food. if for example a starving Allosaurus spots a Ceratosaurus eating from a feeder/corpse it would most likely fight it when too weak and tired to hunt. this however would not be the case if the Allosaurus spotted a Tyrranosaurus.
-
Last but not least, Smaller Carnivores could possibly try to snatch some food from corpses bigger Animals have killed, for example a Compsoghnatus would steal food from a Tyrranosaurus because it is faster and more agile.
Thank you for Reading and if you have any ideas on how to improve this post just tell me, have a wonderfull day.
