If I understand you correctly, isn't your goal to just communicate across auras and not across users?

Just asking because the only reason you'd make use of addon messages is for the latter.
If it's just about passing information from aura to aura, then use ScanEvents

But if you do need to pass stuff between users, make sure that the channel you wanna send on applies.

If you are neither in a raid nor a party, "RAID" (and "PARTY") don't do anything, you should get a system error message saying "you are not in a party"
