I’ve had a very fun time on Rumble but it can do a lot better as it stands

Connectivity could be better as other players are kinda rubberbanding all over, the abilities will hopefully make it more uniquely Sonic although I struggle to see how they will fit the current gameplay loop

Good amount of stages and songs though

Usually these kinds of mobile game launch fairly simple

The only way they expand is if they are a success

Then whole new features and gameplay modes get added

But like... That's just how it works. If they work on expanding without even launching the game worldwide they really are losing their chances

Like you said it just feels like sega greatly overestimate the "investment" that people will have with this game

And if that was their plan, then they should have been more ambitious from the start. You can't play it safe try to make a clone of an already successful game and then be like we change our mind we want to be more ambitious

This is why only a few games survive

If they release more content on launch, it really won't necessarily have any better effect on player retention to that extent

They would have to be very lucky for an additional feature to cause that

If the main gameplay loop won't entice people enough, you can't do much to skirt around that

I think among what they listed, skills would be the only thing that could have an impact

Because now there's some real incentive to get skins and non-cosmetic unlocks

But reality is this just wasn't something they had originally planned. In their leaked document for this game they literally listed they wanted to avoid skills so that all purchases are strictly cosmetic and paying won't give an unfair advantage

I knew right then and there it won't work. For 2 reasons:
-The point of this kind of game is not to be a competitive game where you can't have unfair advantages
-The chibi artstyle makes everything not look as cool and really makes people not nearly as interested in getting skins as they would otherwise

So now they are trying to last minute push skills into the game because they are worried that launching without it first people will backlash on them for adding a pay 2 win gimmick

A. This is a live service mobile game, not a mainline title, delays and especially delays to this degree are going to damper any hype the game has going

B. Everyone who’s played the game has said it’s fully functional and has enough polish in its current state

I’m sure whatever they’re doing will make Rumble a better game but it could come at the cost of a large amount of it’s potential player base ESPECIALLY when they see others from different regions play the game for months without it hitting global launch
