Video games are a black box so everyone and their cousin makes wishlists and says they're "leaks" . Usually game leaks comes from like production or advertising people spilling the beans because projects are just so large these days. Films are, filmed so there's an entire industry of mother fuckers stalking productions and showing up and photographing sets. No need to fake leak that, someone is just gonna photograph shit. Not to say you cant still get internal leaks, sonic got one durin the production of the knuckles show for it and the sonic 3 movie. But even then that followed and was accompanied with folks just photographing the set

There's like talks about this , they hire psychologists to see what you will buy. There are psychologists who work on just this. And unfortunately the game industry has a pretty good feel on what people are ( under a non collapsing economy ) willing to pay for.
