I'll give an example

so like I think the squid and surf power ups are kinda meaningless. And feel like them messing around mechanically as well as them tbh not really fitting the character. And I think is understood internally which is why the winged shadow is the only thin that like gets merch. I think they get that's the one mechanically and visually like adds a lot. Even the other two power ups are just a combo and chaos spear but bigger. Doesn't really add much. I would like new shadow mechanics that add more ways to engae with the level itself. A good idea that doesn't get utilized as much as it should is shadow's ability to just do chaos control in the level. That's a good addition but from playing the games its clear that's its kind of extra a lot of the time rather than a mechanic to really be played with like the wings.

Depth and freedom is what i want. Shadow gens is like a neat start, but i want confident choices based around very well designed mechanics.

In the former he reminds me of like magneto from mvc or now jp from sf6 and the latter hes a goddamn wizard. i dunno i think can do some intrestng stuff with " rocket boots " . That said, i don't think sonic team really cares about his shoes all that much. They were meant to differentiate him in the early 00's and lean on " extreme sports " and its not that time anymore and he just strait up flies when he boosts atp. I'm atp come to grips with they see very little use for his boots beyond iconography and a different initial run animation.

Like lets say frontiers 2 right, its real iizuka is my uncle and he told me

if shadows playable and has combat like using chaos control to control or limit enemy movement

freezing them in time, creating black holes so you can manually move them to specific places for combos, maybe you could have a system where shadow moves throughout time and space to extend combos by going back in time or creating a double that allows you to do more stuff

take the idea of reality warping, and extend it in a mechically interesting way
