  2. Yeah because they do not want you to think about vegeta when you think about shadow. They are very particular about the things they want you to associate with shadow. And have been name dropping comic book characters in reference to shadow for 20 years

Except, this is not sudden. They have been talking about the comic book characters for 20 years and the historical fact you claim is. Concept art , concept art that. You have no idea how it translated to the final product. They have been talking about shadow in reference to comic book characters for 20 years. My point was the idea that this them all of a sudden covering their ass about this doesn't make sense because they have been very open about shadow's influences for a very long time.

And you know what sure , maybe they just couldn't talk about it whlist they worked at sonic team. Then why has no one who left sonic team ever mentioned even once that shadow was based on vegeta? You have former sonic team staff saying that tails and sonic are based on gohan and piccolo. You have maekawa saying that shadow and maria's story is based on please save my earth. If that DNA was so integral. Someone would have had to have asked someone over the course of 20 years about vegeta one of the most famous anime characters atp famous characters in all of modern fiction and there's not one peep about that. You could go ask maekawa rn. But nothing has come up.

I kinda think its relevant if they mention both western and japanese influences for shadow and other things but vegeta just never comes up. Even when there are people who don't work there anymore, and could just openly speak on it. Like maekawa who was there during shadow's development actually. I think its super relevant when you have kishimoto talking openly about evangelion actually. Because if they are speaking about this these things the people who work there and the people do no longer do. And vegeta has not come up once, in 20 years.

And that's a valid theory in those circles even though it does not make sense because its from an unused concept. That community being primarly made up well, younger folks. simular to sonic. There are plenty of examples of people in this very discord being exposed the smallest back end of a process and completely misinterpeting it

if I’ll be blunt I don’t think most of the vegeta comparisons were (just) brought on by the concept art either, just moreso the nature of shadow as a rival/foe to sonic with a darker side who is then seen teaming up with the heroes to save the days sometimes

sure the specifics might be drastically different but in a series where it’s dragon ball inspiration created Super Sonic I don’t think it’s unreasonable to come to this conclusion at least initially, and it’s the one most people would probably take away from the getgo

that’s why I mentioned the crossover thing earlier, it doesn’t really matter what they intended because at the end of the day shadow and vegeta standing next to each other is gonna be a million times more profitable and popular than hooking him up with anybody else in that series
