Second of all, the whole thing about trying to correlate it with Sonic Boom when that was in 2014 and the movie was in 2020. Don't really get what narrative is trying to be spun here. Companies were willing to license Sonic out for a movie and that all started early/mid 2010s

Yeah the IP is way bigger now thanks to multimedia successes, but it's more about sega's better business endeavors than any particular subset of the franchise
