Cozy. That's the word I can say. I would not say it's a particularily powerful movie or anything but I had a fun time with. There is a lot of talk regarding flaws but I don't feel like it deserves to be attacked with such scrutiny (not that it doesn't have, of course it does but I feel with this movie isn't particularily worth it, unlike the later two movies which try to be bigger so the analysis has be more concrete. Of course this is my perspective and you can do otherwise). It's just a simple road trip movie and a vibe for me.

The biggest difference is that sonic movies aren't just recreations pre existing movies. I'd rather them be fully animated but paramount decided that this was safer back in 2018 so we're stuck with it.

Things like the lion king and how to train your dragon are just spitting in the face of the creative team of those movies saying "well now that we're making it for real now..."

The only thing I'll say is that they should be careful with consistency between reviews

the review of IGN says it's better than either of the two previous movies and yet it has a 6, which isn't a problem on itself if it wasn't because they also gave sonic movie 2 a 7

so it creates a discrepancy between what was said before with what is said now.

Obviously the reviewer of there is not the same as of now (as far as I am aware) but some more caution has to be done in this area, as both of these ultimately do a review to represent IGN as a brand
