Everything happens out of coincidence, characters forgetting about their powers or humans just acting really weird for the sake of the plot happening. I can forgive this if it was once or twice but this movie is build out of moments like this just for the sake of getting to the final act.
And the final act is really fun but almost everything before it its kind of a bad experience
And the humour is way worse in Sonic 2, i think more than half of the jokes are pop culture references.
No punchline, just reference that's it

Watched Rise of the Beasts earlier, and I was almost caught off guard by how well the humans were integrated... well, at least at the start, and in several other places kinda sorta
It still ran into the issue of the humans clashing hard with the autobots eventually, and I know it'd be asking a lot of the Sonic movies considering Transformers has yet to truly capitalize on it yet imo, but man I forgot just how satisfying it is to actually have a human plotline firing on all cylinders for a solid 30 minutes, and how enjoyable it is to see two sides of one universe actually reflect off each other properly
If nothing else I hope they actually try with Sonic 3 and 4 and such, if a tone shift is what they're able to do project-to-project, and actually work to make both sides of the coin as enjoyable as a properly engaging human storyline that they did there

Like, the world is just shifted away from the 'trio living in the small town and going out to fight the next big threat' aspect at least.
And by that I mean..idk maybe earth and sonic's worlds merge due to chaos tomfoolery.
I know some people suggest that sonic and co. Go off world to the other corners of the galaxy and stuff, but I understand if that doesn't happen because of budgetary reasons.
