they are reliant on the retrans revenue from the cable industy above all else because of ESPN

its their cash cow - it helped them fund the very projects we are seeing from this company today

that fox deal was literally purchased using the funds they've generated from espn, that's how hugely important it is to disney

live sports is, as we know it, invincible to cord-cutting, and disney has successfully convinced cable companies to charge a pretty penny for that privilege

but as we have seen with their recent spat with charter (american teleco for the outsiders following), that idea of invincibility for espn is being challenged

that, and disney+ may not actually recoup the costs the same way espn does, as they learn more and more that the netflix formula of "spend literally everything on content for infinity and beyond" isn't a sustainable business model

it should be pointed out that, despite years of cord-cutting, cable channels still generally a shit load of reliable revenue

it is for that reason why Paramount and WBD still have their cable portfolio going even though, realistically, a vast majority isn't watching, nor are they spending any money to fund them to a watchable product

(MTV is a 24-hour loop of the same show, HLN doesn't even air live news, etc)

so, for espn (and hell, even their conv properties like ABC and Freeform), they've been cornered to two options: a) either spin ESPN as a direct-to-consumer streamer, guarantee a blacklist from every teleco in existence, and pray that it becomes a windfall; or b) let ESPN stay on cable to milk its last remaining subs, creating a further distance from your audience who prefer streaming, and pray that Apple or Amazon doesn't rip away a lucrative broadcast deal, or a teleco demanding comp

HOWEVER! It can only work if they decide to keep the idea of pretty much everyone thinking Shadow is Sonic

SO, here's how it goes, Shadow does multiple crimes under the order of Eggman/Stone after he is found, everyone thinks it is Sonic, including the Wachowski family, Sonic is out doing his own thing while this is all happening, so, Sonic gets back from whatever he is doing, and Tom, very guiltily, places him under arrest for the crimes, Sonic is obviously confused, he's like "The heck?! I didn't do any of this, i just went to get a chili dawg" and Tom's like "Sorry Sonic, this is for your own good", so he is placed in prison

HOWEVER! He escapes, insert City Escape scene here, after escaping the G.U.N truck (i swear to god if that truck ain't in the film, i'm rioting), Sonic thinks that he is back to square one, no friends, no family, and now G.U.N is on his ass, so he runs off to the forest, where his old home is, however, turns out, that's now the home of Amy Rose, they meet, Amy of course falls head over heels for the hedgeheck, however, soon afterwards, G.U.N raids the cave and Sonic & Amy escape with their lives, so they decide to team up to defeat Eggman (who Sonic bets a million bucks is responsible) and clear their names

I remember after finishing Sonic Rush, an episode of Sonic X which had Amy and Sonic just chilling on a haystack. At the beginning and the end. And it surprised me. It proved to me that Sonic wasn’t entirely afraid of Amy, and Amy doesn’t have to be always staking him. They could just get along peacefully. The narrative that Heroes, Battle, various episodes of X, etc taught me was false
