I think the setting of guilty gear is this very 90's anime post apocalyptic like mix if multiple aesthetics with a bunch of like old west mixed in. That create these sort of simultaneously possibly real but also the most outlandish interpretations of a thing you have ever seen.

I dont think i want sonic to be exactly like that. But i think the sonic settings could be more fantastic in that way. I like the aesthetics in heroes and riders for specifically this reason. Very fantastic settings alien. But based in something real.

I feel like a lot more modern games lean into either more realish interpretations if real places like the adventure era, or more classic era motifs done 3d. I think the closest modern game that did what i wanted was forces. Forces is a bad video game. But is weirdly the most aesthetically interesting sonic game imo, in like a while

And that reality based extram fantasy informs the characters designs. So you have lanky surgeons fighting a bounty hunter that uses yoyo's partially dressed as a nun.

I'm sure this is an obvious question, but it is something I'm curious on. Currently discussing about the Knuckles show elsewhere, and how it came out the way it did so that it doesn't come off as a "requirement" for Sonic 3, to not let people be left in the dark.

This has been a thing with the MCU and Star Wars especially, TV shows that are required to get the context for this particular film or that particular film. Lately those have been getting increasing criticism, of extra work needing to be put in and such.

So I ask, would Knuckles have been better if there was some things making it connected to Sonic 3, in hopes it possibly improves the show, or was it better off standalone entirely as is?
