For better or for worse, Speed Sim is basically the landing point for the next generation of fans
If you're younger and you were introduced to Sonic via the movies and/or Prime, there's a high chance you'll be drawn to speed sim as a new fan
One thing it excels at is showing people about all the different characters in the Sonic universe, even some that haven't gotten as much love recently like Metal Sonic or Silver/Blaze
Basically, it's great at promoting the franchise and sonic universe as a whole
And thats why i was always confused about the movie stuff never being a part of it when it was in other games, yknow?

I know the VFX were affected by Covid, and essentially doing the animation within home for the entire production. But Sonic 2’s VFX feels like what happens when you get a team of people that are more use to animating realistic creatures, with real movements, etc. on a Sonic production, and everybody just feels stiff.
That’s not to say it doesn’t have its cartoony moments, but every motion they take in 2 compared to knuckles or the original Sonic movie, feels very sluggish.

I guess I can see that happening; the divide between people who are more there for the Sonic characters vs the people who are more there for the actors and their roles
And it is a part of why the movies are the way they are; it's just surprising to hear considering how much presence they do have once it reaches the wedding scene
