So like, Origins Plus is weird.

The people who don’t see any value in it are honestly justified because for one, it’s just Amy and 12 roms you can probably download on the internet but this time it’s 10 dollars. Even more so if you double dip. The fact that it costs the same as base Origins for the physical edition but people who already own it have to pay 10 dollars more is really funky and a bit predatory, even if it’s not by a lot. On top of that, a lot of people.. don’t really value the game gear games, so they’d rather have something like Chaotix or even 3D Blast. Hell, it’s also weird that games that have genesis versions, like Spinball and Mean Bean Machine, still get their game gear counterparts used. On top of that there’s pixel blurring in Origins, a weird drop dash, pretty nasty sounding music replacement for Sonic 3, etc. There’s a lot you can not like about Origins, or Plus.

That said, I don’t think it’s fair to dismiss the people who do see value in it and want to buy it. I’m not a hardcore collector, but I do like the idea of a reversible cover and art book with apparently art we’ve never seen before. I do like how Amy is finally getting pushed into the spotlight and they went out of her way to add her in and give her the hammer instead of her just being a Sonic clone. I like that Powerhouse did really well done animations for transitions between games. I like how clean the presentation is. I like that they’re including all the DLC for free. I love how they’re not only adding Knuckles into CD, but also giving him unique routes in that game. I like that I get to play older Sonic games I like in one convenient place.

Even if people don’t like the game gear games, or think it’s funny that they’re just roms, I do like that they’re here. I do have memories of playing things like Triple Trouble or Drift in SADX.

I have nostalgia for them. Not everyone does, but that’s my experience. I’d love to play through those “mediocre 8-bit games” again and try ones I haven’t played.

On top of that, they’re doing bug fixes as well, although that’s the bare minimum and we don’t know what they’ll exactly be.

My point here is that you can not like what Origins Plus is or what it delivers, but that doesn’t mean that others won’t see any value in it as well in something you may find meaningless. That doesn’t discount your own thoughts, but it’s just a matter of not getting into a quarrel about what really comes down to personal preference.

(TL;DR - If people think it’s stupid, that’s valid. If people think it has a lot of value that’s valid.)
