Unfortunately, Windows has a track record of being subpar for hosting and leaving little to help track stuff like this. How are your running Foundry exactly? The normal native app, or via node and a process manager?
Im Running it as native app.
Actually i'm hosting 4 Instances. All Win 10. I'm that one friend with an esxi, the biggest internet connection and a decent cpu. ^^
Sadly there is no pattern when they shutdown. It seems like to just happen at random.
as far as i can see, there are no reboots (updates) involved.
Well, as far as I'm aware, there are only 3 things that would cause Foundry to just quit. The OS asking it, doing an update or changing the settings on the setup page.
is there a possibility to increase the debuglevel on log?
Not that I'm aware of nor can find. Trying to use Windows as a dedicated server using the gui app is unsupported as a general note.
Windows is a crap OS to be using to host stuff if they don't try to do everything Microsoft's way.
Why?
Yes!
Any level of RDP/VNC/other remote screen viewing is worse than just connecting via your own web browser.
Unless the system is a total potato, but then why try to keep that working.
jep. i know. I think i have to be a little more convincing and migrate to linux. ^^
If they want file access, there are plenty of web based file mangers, so you could give them access to their files to delete outside Foundry.
While I did get Foundry to work well in a VM, I just don't see it working for play if your not passing through proper GPUs into the VMs.
yea.-.. you are right.. we are all connecting via web browser..
It was just a "they work like that since the beginning"...
Maybee it's time for a change. ^^
You can probably consolidate the servers down.
For 4, assuming they are not all being used at the exact same time, you can probably get away with 2-3 GB of RAM.
ram is no Problem. 🙂
I'd do 4 GB, just in case.
I know that feeling with 1 TB of RAM kicking around, but there is also no need to overprovision.
lets start with 4 GB and test. ^^
This is a good starting point, though, I'd use cli args to lock down port and user data paths.
