I'm working on something with regards to this. I had a request to make it easier to install my module since I, like most creators, would lose money with Foundry's new minimum quarterly activation fees.

I'm looking at rolling it into my existing Patreon subscription and giving subscribers that are also creators the option of being elevated to package managers so they can include their own modules.

I'm still in the initial stages, but I've got it working and will get a full test with the next release of SWADE Themed Sheets. So far, I'm able to take a URL from the marketplace app and paste it into the Foundry "install from URL" field in the app and have it install the module.

Added a few things to help protect premium content IP with rotating tokens and such, auto-adds my subscribers' access to the marketplace, and I'm looking at ways I can add in the ability to actually update from Foundry and just do the initial install from the marketplace.

It wouldn't be free, but, with my current tier structure, would be flat fee and annually less than Foundry's current quarterly minimum.

we're probably going way off topic with this now. It's cool to see people are putting in the effort, but who knows what the future holds. Maybe the foundry marketplace will be the solution. I can't say

That's why I threaded it.

But, yea, there's no way of know what's going to work or what Foundry is doing in-house but that's no reason to not try out something new. There are already other exclusive marketplaces attached to Foundry hosts but I don't know if that's the answer either. I'll never see a benefit from them since I self-host my Foundry instance on Digitalocean.

At the end of the day, users just want it to be easy to install that shiny new module they got all excited about. And Foundry's fees are a barrier to small publishers.

I think this will be a great option for small Ace licensees. Do you think it could apply to SWAG not as a marketplace but as a distribution method?

That's definitely possible. I'm doing my integration with Patreon using Zapier right now but I'm going to start experimenting with their Webhooks and it's not out of the realm of possibility to add a Webhook that requests a data payload in a specific format and negotiate with OBS on adding some kind of Webhook capability if it doesn't already exist.

I beleive they do have something like that.

So, they do but their integration is pretty limited. More likely integration with Patreon's shop feature will end up being a better choice.

Hope you get your thing working. I'm no content creator. But I hear from many parties that it's really hard for 3rd party developers to get content into foundry and earn something with it or at least break even. That's kind of very bad for a platform that lives from user content.
