You can look at an entity then use the thatinfo command to get information about it. This is considered a cheat command though so you can't do it on any server.

If my mind serves correctly, thatinfo does prints out the information about player model set by player. ~~However, if the map has forced player models set specified, thatinfo will only show information about player model being set by player and not the model name specified by the map.~~
